Brave New World

Date of Review:  Apr 29, 2000
Review: (Before I say anything else, WHY IS THIS IN THE "YOUNG ADULT" CATEGORY?!)

In anti-utopian novels like Orwell's "1984", Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451", Burgess' "A Clockwork Orange", and "Brave New World", we're shown nightmarish, disturbing...

Herr Flick likes to Orgy Porgy

Date of Review:  Jul 30, 2000
Review: Herr Flick finds this book to be of a superior manner, and it will forever hold a place in my stone cold heart.

A book that on the surface may seem somewhat childish and dated, exposes a society without thought, individuality or meaning...

See the Future TODAY!

Date of Review:  Jun 26, 2004
The Bottom Line: Reviewers in Huxley's day bashed this book because it was ahead of its time, this book is quickly reaching its time but isn't there yet
Review: Aldous Huxley was a very, very smart man... there is no doubt about that at all. He was able to write a book all the way back in 1932 about a world environment that is just now beginning to become reality.

Brave New World is a simply...

A must-read Classic

Date of Review:  Apr 18, 2000
Review: I had to read this book several years ago for my English class. After getting over the fact that it was a "must-read", I slowly noticed that this book is pretty good. After a while, it turned from "pretty good" to the best book I have ever read.

A review of Brave New World

Date of Review:  Apr 7, 2005
The Bottom Line: I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys thought provoking literature. This book is for anyone that enjoyed 1984 by George Orwell.
Review: In a Brave New World, Aldous Huxley takes us into the world of tomorrow. A world where the human race is made from test tubes. No parents, no problems, no worries. A world where good feelings are artificially induced by miracle drugs.

We must Stay Away from Huxley's Brave New World

Date of Review:  Jul 25, 2004
The Bottom Line: Huxley's warning from the book goes like this: Do not let yourself get enslaved to entertainment or collectivism for any reason.
Review: Aldous Huxley wrote this novel, undoubtedly the best work that will forever define him and his beliefs, to express his concern over what was happening to human and political values, especially in a time when technology was advancing rapidly and...

A futuristic tale that is eerily familiar

Date of Review:  May 21, 2003
The Bottom Line: An excellent book that you should definitely read since it fits the description of a classic to a tee and will leave you pondering.
Review: If you are not into science fiction, don't dismay. This book is deeper and well worth your time. It's about a futuristic world, that is eerily familiar to current times. The novel begins with a baby factory that is very similar to modern day...

Date of Review:  Jul 6, 2003
The Bottom Line: If you like your sci-fi intelligent and thought-provoking, this is a must.
Review: Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is one of the true science fiction giants. Good sci-fi is supposed to make you think; this book has the capacity not just to do that but to change your whole perspective on the human race.

It concerns a...

Oh, Ford.....

Date of Review:  Jan 13, 2000
Review: The title of this review actually represents a mild obscenity within the context of the BRAVE NEW WORLD Aldous Huxley describes in this book. It is more than just satire. It is a reminder to look at where we've been (remember that Huxley wrote this...

Is ours a Brave New World?

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2004
The Bottom Line: This is an eerily predictive novel, the relevance of which is undiminished by time, and which is entirely deserving of its status as a modern classic.
Review: Teaser:
Though it was written in 1932, Aldous Huxley's Brave New World remains as relevant and chilling today as it was 70 years ago.

The Setup:
My memory of it was rather hazy before I revisited it yesterday, as it had been a...
