A futuristic tale that is eerily familiar
Date of Review: May 21, 2003
The Bottom Line: An excellent book that you should definitely read since it fits the description of a classic to a tee and will leave you pondering.
If you are not into science fiction, don't dismay. This book is deeper and well worth your time. It's about a futuristic world, that is eerily familiar to current times. The novel begins with a baby factory that is very similar to modern day fertility treatments. As the book progresses, the author's rendition of a "perfect" world is easily dismantled by the reader as a loveless, heartless place. The book leaves the reader pondering, what makes a perfect world? This book will certainly leave a lasting impression upon you and make you think twice about what is important in life. With our current cultural lust for perfection, this book brings about a really important point that perfection can be steel cold and unloving.
