Do You Love Your Baby Cakes?

Intro:
This book was a present for my son that he received a few months back. My husband and I love to read to our son and we have read this book to him quite regularly.

The story:
The story is about a small child (although they show different pictures of small children) and his bear named "Baby Cakes". This child does many different things with the bear such as kissing the bear, nibbling the bears toes, and playing peekaboo, but always goes back to telling the bear how much he loves him.

A sample from the book is as follows:
Baby Cakes, Baby Cakes I love you! Baby Cakes, Baby Cakes, Yes, I do!
Hide from little Baby Cakes. Peek-a-boo!
Tickle little Baby Cakes. Gooch-a-goo!
Laugh with little Baby Cakes. Ha, ha, ha!
Sing to little Baby Cakes. La, La, La.
Hug my little Baby Cakes Oh so tight. Now my little Baby Cakes go night night.
Baby Cakes, Baby Cakes I love you! Baby Cakes, Baby Cakes, Yes, I do!

Different concepts:
When a child is around one year old, they are starting to understand and demonstrate some basic nursery games. I love how this book uses those in the story... clapping your hands, peek-a-boo, tickling, hugging, and kisses. My son sometimes will look at the pictures and attempt to do what the child is doing.

Pictures:
I really enjoy this book for its pictures and drawings. The colors are great (and change on every page) and not too bold. The pictures themselves are not too busy as to overwhelm a child. I have seen some books recently that have too much going on... the simplicity of this book is great. My son has recently began to really stare at each of these pages and giggles at the pictures!

Overall:
We absolutely love this book! There is nothing negative to say about it, we recommend this book highly. The book is 6.25 inches across and 7.25 inches down (doesn't take up too much room!) and retails at $7.99. We think that this book would be best for babies and toddlers up to 4 years old. This is a favorite of my husband and I as well as most importantly our son. When choosing a book, he always grabs for this one first!
