not worth reading

Maybe this is not the most chic opinion out there, but I did not relish reading this play. I don't care how great Marlon Brando looks on the cover, that is the only selling point I see. A Street Car Named Desire is overall a depressing story. There isn't a moment when readers will be left
smiling. I don't need a sappy everyone holding hands at the end story, but the one word I can find to describe this book is, "bleak."

In order for me to really enjoy a book, I need to like the characters. Our protagonist, Blanche is an ace or two short a full deck since her husband died. Stella, her sister allows everything that goes wrong to happen. If there is a villain in this story, it is safely Stella. Stella's
husband, Stanley is simply a brute. And Mitch, his best friend is weak. There isn't a redeemable trait among the four.

Perhaps I am being a bit too hard on Mr. Williams? Most critics rave about this tale. I find it to be nothing but the sad story of sad people.
