Victoria's Secret "Body By Victoria" Fragrance: Subtle but Sexy.....

I love good smelling perfume, body lotions, shower gels, etc. And I like it when my husband thinks I smell good too. I have quite the collection of these type products but I have a few that are my favorites. A few years ago I worked at Victoria's Secret Beauty and I came to love some of their fragrances. I ended up with the entire Body By Victoria collection in no time.

The Scent

I can't handle really strong scents because I get migraine headaches. The crisp, tart fragrances (like CK Eternity, Clinique Happy, Victoria's Secret Pink) just don't work for me. But I do want something that at least has a noticeable scent. Most of the time it's hard to find that happy medium. Luckily this particular scent fits the bill for me and I have been through several bottles of it.

Here is how Victoria's Secret describes this scent:

"Fragrance type: woody musky floral

Top notes: crushed leaves, freesia, mandarin, mimosa

Middle notes: water hyacinth, cucumber, stephanotis, peony, pink lily

Low notes: white musk, sandalwood"

I always get a kick out of reading these type of fragrance descriptions because I could never in a million years pick out all those scents in a single perfume! I do find it interesting though.

My description of the fragrance would be that it is a lightweight, floral scent. It is also a very clean, fresh scent. It is soft and sensual, and not overpowering. Yet it is noticeable and enjoyable for those around you.

Anytime I wear this fragrance my husband comments on it, as does anyone else who is close enough to detect it. I always get positive feedback when wearing it and everyone wants to know what it is.

I find that I wear this most often in the spring and summer months. But it works for anytime and any occasion. Since it is a subtle, soft fragrance it works well with most any of my scented body lotions and shower gels.

One caution I will give (having worked at Victoria's Secret and selling a lot of this stuff...) is that you will want to test it before you buy it. (Well, they do let you return items, but you get my point). As with all perfumes, different scents react differently with everyone's unique body chemistry. Perfumes can tend to smell entirely different on someone else than on your own skin. If you smell a perfume on another person and you like it... TRY IT FIRST. Spray it on your skin and wear it all day and see how it dries down and smells hours later. I've been the victim of this scenario more than once. I have learned to try before I buy. With this particular perfume, it can dry down to a very alcohol-like scent on some people. It doesn't do this on me of course, but I recommend trying it first to be sure.

This scent lasts all day on my skin but it does fade mildly after several hours. Since it is a lighter fragrance it's not a big deal if I add another spray before I go out in the evening.

On occasion Victoria's Secret will come out with .5 oz trial size bottles and they usually sell for about $12.50.

As you can see, the bigger the bottle, the better the deal. You get more for your money. Basically they double the size of the bottle and add only $10 to the price.

I have tried all the body products too and like them all. By using the body cleanser and body lotion, you can layer the scent and it will last MUCH longer. If I use the cleanser in my shower, then moisturize all over with the lotion, and then use the perfume.... the scent is still on my skin the next morning. So layering with the products in this scent works very well.

Victoria's Secret usually has pre-packaged sets with a perfume and 1 or 2 of the body products for a discounted price. Sometimes they even come in a really cute handbag or tote. Check your local stores for those type deals.

Final Recommendation

I very highly recommend this fragrance because I adore it. I have been through several bottles of the perfume and the body products. The scent works wonderfully on me and it doesn't cause problems with my migraines or sensitivity to fragrance.
