Excellent Quality but has compatibility issues
Date of Review: Jun 16, 2007
The Bottom Line: If you like to workout and listen to music and talk on the phone at the same time...buy it
I originally bought this for my son because of its high cool factor. He has a blackberry pearl with bluetooth capabilities.
I bought the motorola s9 at fry's for $129.00. The price is a little high but since my son was graduating from High School, I didn't mind the price so much.
I took them home, and he loved how they looked, plus none of his friends had them. He was a little bit disappointed when we figured out that most Blackberry phones aren't compatible with the s9 nor was the Blackberry Pearl.
So, I guess daddy got stuck with them, which really wasn't that bad, because daddy has a motorola Q. It synced perfectly and works great. The sound quality for listening to mp3's is amazing. Better yet, the quality of the phone is even better. You can even hear deep bass in your phone calls. The voice activation feature on my moto q worked a lot better using the s9. If you are listening to music on your phone and get a call, the music automatically mutes until you hang up the phone. There are convenient talk buttons and play/fast forward/reverse and volume buttons on the side of each earpiece. All of side buttons are very touch sensitive. One thing to keep in mind is that it's very easy to accidentally touch these buttons when adjusting the position of your headset. Don't be surprised if call someone you don't intend to, or fast forward or repeat a song that you're listening to.
The headphone itself, is made of a rubberized material and a high grade plastic. It does not look cheap at all. It also has a chrome Motorola plate on the back and has red and blue lights that let you know if it is on, off, or in pairing mode. It has a mini usb2 plug in that you use with the charger that's included. Sync-ing it to your phone is easy(as long as it's a compatible phone).
The headphones fit nicely around your neck (without touching your neck). I use the product for working out at the gym and walking my dog. It's impractical to use it while driving and may be against the law in some states.
The best features of the s9 is the style, small size, and sound quality. I just wish the price was half the cost.
There is supposed to be a bluetooth receiver that you can buy for your ipod or mp3 player. I believe that this should have come with it too.
I highly recommend this for the techy that works out and is really active. Just make sure that your phone supports the s9 before you purchase it.
