Loved It~

by   Adriem ,  Apr 20, 2000
Pros: Everything
Cons: None
Review: The reason why I saw this movie was because of the Hispanic influences in the film.
Blood In Blood out is one of the best "gang" movies that i have seen so far. Most of this type of movies were only about killing someone and drugs. The...

Utter Brilliance!

by   zubayr2111 ,  Feb 16, 2001
Pros: One is given an in-depth view of a part of another culture.
Cons: Immature viewers might consider the movie to be a stepping stone for crime.
The Bottom Line: I would certainly recommend this movie to any mature viewer who needs to find perspective, reality and truth. A REAL PIECE OF ART!
Review: Without going into much detail regarding the movie, no opinion would do justice to the excellence I was presented with during the 3 hours I spent watching this movie. I take my hat off to the cast, producer, director and all involved in the making. A...

Cons: violence

Life behind US prisons.

by   anandks007 ,  Aug 17, 2008
Pros: Portrayal of the Latino culture, Good insight in to San Quentin.
Cons: Pace of the plot, Length of the movie.
The Bottom Line: Watch if you have 3 hours to spare.
Review: After watching a number of movies about the US prison system like the recently released Felon and American History X, I decided to try out this one. But I was disappointed. Agreed that this film is told from the Latino perspective. But still it could ...

Why must every Latino "epic" be compared to the Godfather?

by   manic_hispanic ,  May 23, 2001
Pros: A sometimes entertaining little bit of filmmaking
Cons: Poorly conceived, preachy, stereotypical characters
The Bottom Line: Not as authentic as "American Me", more mass-market oriented. I imagine the WWF crowd might like this. It's S.I.M.P.L.E.
Review: Ok, I like reviewing films that deal (for the most part)with Latinos. Two of those films, "My Family, Mi Familia" and "American Me" have been compared with the epic tale of the Corleone family, "The Godfather". The patter surrounding this flick was not...
