Tool or Toy? Who cares!

I received this automatic adjustable wrench for a gift last Christmas. I am constantly working in tight areas whether it be in the engine bay of my vehicle, under the kitchen sink, etc. This wrench actually is a great concept if you are performing a task that requires an adjustable wrench.

At first I found myself playing with it more than actually using it, ok it works to pinch other things! My initial concerns were that it might hold hold up to the same stresses as most other crescent wrenches. This happens to be unfounded, as this is just as strong if not a stronger hold than the conventional crescent wrench. I no longer have to "feel" the size my wrench needs to be, I can just push the button and it automatically is the size that I need it to be. This saves a lot of headaches when you're getting frustrated.

I did notice that when it is cold outside it works a little slower. This might be due to the batteries going out in it, but once it's being used it is not slow to open and close anymore.

The only other thing I noticed is that the head of it is somewhat bigger than a regular crescent wrench. In tight spots, that could be detrimental to the convenience. This hasn't impeded on my use of it, but it's something to keep in mind. If you find yourself using manually adjustable wrenches on a somewhat regular basis, I would go ahead and pick one of these up. If not, I probably wouldn't bother.
