Break open the piggy bank for the Lawn Hog
Pros:
light, no fumes, folds for easy storage, rust free housing, no winterizing.
Cons:
Can't leave it outside during the summer, bag seemed small
The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend this, the ease of use alone is enough to say that. But saving time and money over a gas mower takes the cake, well worth every penny!

Author's Review
Springtime arrived, and like normal starting the mower was an issue. I pulled it from the basement, cleaned the carb, filled the gas, filled the oil, changed the plugs, and pulled the string until my arm nearly fell and it still wouldn't start. I thought to myself that this is ridiculous, there has to be an easier way. Last summer I thought the same thing, and researched the Black and Decker Lawn Hog but was a little leery of an electric mower. This year my grass couldn't wait anymore, at a whopping 8 inches high, I was in dire need of a working mower. I knew with a little more time I could get the other one to work, but thought why should I go through this hassle every season. I took the plunge and bought the Lawn Hog.
I bought the model that mulches, has the rear bag, and the flip over handle. Getting it in the car was easier than I thought, as the mower was pretty light, lighter than I was expecting. That was just the first in a long list of positives. I opened the box, and it was virtually ready to use. The excitement just kept growing.
When it came time to use it, the following morning, I thought the cord may be an issue. I quickly found that it was no more difficult to maneuver than a vacuum cleaner cord. I plugged it in pulled the lever and it started right up. No string pulling, no priming button, no gas, no oil, and no hassle. I was thrilled at this point, but now was the real test. The 8 inch grass proved to be no problem for this powerful light-weight mower. It cut right through it like a pro. My neighbors came out and even started asking questions about it, they were pretty impressed too.
I did feel as though I was constantly emptying the bag, so I switched to mulching halfway through. It could just be that I had a jungle to mow, a normal mowing probably wouldn't be like that. The mulching option worked great too though. There was really no need to rake up the excess grass, even with it being so long it was fine enough to leave and not really be seen. The plastic housing is nice, don't have to worry about in between season rusting. It stores easily, and can be taken up and down the stairs with minimal effort. It is inexpensive for the quality, and you save more than you spend by not buying fuel, oil, and spark plugs. You don't have to go through the winterizing ritual as you do with a gas mower and it also seemed a bit quieter than a typical gas mower.
It is light-weight, powerful, easy to use, hassle free, and an absolutely great product by Black and Decker. I would highly recommend this to anyone with a small yard, or anyone that has trouble pushing a standard gas mower. If you can vacuum, you can use this mower!
