Quality is an issue

Black & Decker Spacemaker (ODC440) 12-Cup Coffee Maker:
Purchased at a local retailer 10/20/08. Installed unit under cabinet. I was unhappy with the mounting system designed for this unit. The mounting bracket is only 1/2 length of unit. This causes the unit to be flimsy which allows the coffee maker to bounce around. Additionally the pilot holes were too small for the screw heads, B&D supplied the screws, thus I used other hardware. This should have been a clear sign to me that over all quality was lacking from the get-go. I installed it never the less. I noticed the heating plate does not have a deep recess which if it did would prevent unattentional removal of the coffee pot itself. I highly do not recommend this product for any RV's and/or boats as the coffee pot itself would probably launch itself from it's resting base in motion. I set the clock and went to bed. Woke up in the morning to find the clock was 2 hours fast. Reset clock and found it 4 minutes fast after 20 minutes. Apparently B&D does not use the proper timer chip or they have a poor design in which a higher than normal voltage is being supplied to the timer chip (another quick to market for fast profit scheme). I have not experienced the multiple failures since I promptly refunded this poor excuse for a coffee maker. I understand that B&D is brushing off liability by suggesting a cleaning of the unit will fix most issues which is the normal do this and that but we're not taking it back manufacturing stance. Also I understand that B&D has discontinued this product and will be bringing an new design to market. I wont be purchasing it....regadless of what they bring to market. This is the price we pay for off shoring our manufacturing to get those "cheap" prices. I removed the unit and refunded it. Very displeased with B&D and will not purchase any additional appliances with the B&D logo. I have decided to purchase a true undercabinet coffee maker....the Conture Coffee Maker....CCM1000. Several positive comments have been made about the Conture product.
