Black and Decker ODC440B coffee maker clock problem.

We recently received as a gift the ODC440B Spacemaker to replace our very old Spacemaker ( the analog clock/timer was broke). I have owned an older spacemaker for years, the under the counter mounting is great for saving space. The new unit is easy to use and clean and uses a regular filter, the coffee is great but it does appear to be cheaply made. The problem I have is that the digital clock would not keep accurate time, it kept gaining time which made using the timer option out of the question. and i am not talking about a few minutes a week. Sometimes after a few hours it was 15 minutes fast. We finally got it exchanged for a new one which worked fine for about a week then it too began to gain time. I think it is a heat or moisture problem and seems it may be occurring during the brewing cycle. Besides that problem the mounting is very poorly designed, our old one had the screws go in from inside the cabinet so the were flush the new one has the screws going in from the bottom so you have screws sticking up in your cabinet space. Also the mounting brackets do not even have the holes pre drilled, they tell you to use a sharp object to punch out the holes. The digital clock is very dim and hard to see. the backlight only comes on during brewing or for a bit when you press a button. It is not run on batteries they should have made the backlight on all the time. I am very disappointed with this unit. Of course it was made in China. B&D should go back to their roots and start making products here with the quality they used to put into them. After all pretty soon their name won't be enough to sell products. Anyway, if you don't mind resetting the time and you want to save counter space I believe this is the only unit that mounts under the counter.
