Does a great job on rugs!
Date of Review: Aug 16, 2007
The Bottom Line: More than I expected for the cost. Truly pulled out deep down dirt from our carpets and made them look like a professional had been there.
My wife and I were in the market for a deep cleaner because we have a lot of rugs and a 2 year old who not only drops stuff all over them, but plays, lays and sits on them hours a day. We also have a dog. I read reviews on this site and others and was really just waiting for a sale. I wasn't particular to Bissell and would have bought a Hoover, but this came on sale at Kohl's for $269. and we had a 30% off coupon, so we got it for a good price. I did not consider the 9200 model because for the slim price difference this one rates far better. Interestingly, all of the other reviews for this item list much lower prices. I could not find this product anywhere online for anywhere near some of the prices paid. Good luck if you can.
Anyway, I have only owned this item for a few days, but I've cleaned all of the rugs in my house so far and they look great. Some of our rugs cover stairs so I used the hand tools for that. They were easy to use and worked well.
I honestly thought that the rugs were fairly clean until I used this cleaner. You would not believe how black and disgusting the water was after I emptied it each time. It did not pick up dog hair but it did pull A LOT of it out of the rug. I had to walk around and pick up clumps here and there but I do not consider that a flaw in this product. My dog has long hair and sheds a lot and this machine pulled up hair I didn't see and that the vacuum obviously missed, so I was happy. If the machine keeps up at this quality it will definitely pay for itself over time. Overall it seems well built and has exceeded my expectations.
It seems to me that if you are in the market for a product like this then you must have rugs to clean. The whole idea of cleaning tile or wood floors with it is fine, but we have those too and a plain old sponge mop works extremely well. I do not see myself ever using this for a job like that, although it does have the proper attachment if I want to.
This site has been a help to me for many purchases and I hope that this review is a help to you.
