The Bottom Line: Run out and get this machine if you like to have clean carpets at your convenience, it works great and is easy to use.
I did a lot of research before purchasing the Bissell cleaner. I was skeptical of home carpet cleaners as past experiences were messy, cumbersome and performed poorly.
After checking out several option the Bissell ProHeat seemed to stand out in several categories, most importantly that it performed it's job well, and it proved that to be true when I used it.
I have 2 dogs, a cat, a wife and friends that are in and out of the house all the time. My carpet is cream colored and my home is 7 years old. I wasn't ready to replace the carpet but past cleanings did little to make the carpet look fresh again.
With some skepticism I fired up the Bissell... The first thing that I noticed is that it is fantastically user friendly and well designed. Cleaning solution is easy to refill and monitor and the water tank is easy to fill and empty - a special flexible 'bladder' for the clean water tank keeps clean and dirty water separate. I nicely designed pour spout made emptying used water easy with little mess. The heater on the unit works well and hot tap water steams the carpet nicely.
A variety of cleaning solutions for different chores was nice as well. Used the allergen reducer and pet stain solutions. Most all of my pet stains were steamed away, even those that stayed after 'professional' cleanings. Only a few deep, old stains were stubborn. The Bissell offers various settings for light to heavy traffic as well as a rinse feature - another nice addition.
The attachments that come with the machine are nice - a rotating brush, upholstery brush and even a Scotchgard applicator. I did note that the accessory brushes and hose are messy to use, the cleaning solution sprays in 100 directions when triggered unless the brush is held flat against the surface you are cleaning - then the area is too concentrated to be effective.
This is a great choice for a home steam cleaner. Carpets and couches came out clean and smelling fresh after cleaning. The price is pretty good and it's nice to clean the carpets when you want to or need to and not have to schedule around a technician coming to your home.
