Bissell 5770-H, after 1 year
Date of Review: Nov 25, 2008
Up until today I still believed that this was one of the best busy for the money in a non commercial vacuum. Now I question that once high-held value. Today my wife said it was making some bad noises. I looked at the vacuum and decided that the belt had somehow loosened, and in fact it had. Upon removing the housing cover, I found that the roller is suspended in the plastic frame on felt bushings that help to keep the alignment and helps to support the applied pressure of the belt. The felt had worn completely away and the plastic on the housing was beginning to melt away. In my opinion, the roller, upper housing, and the felts will all have to be replaced. Soon after looking at it, I learned that it has a 5 year warranty, but the warranty has been voided simply because I took it apart to see what was wrong with it. Bummer and my bad, but what is really bothering me, is the cheap construction of a bearing type device, desigend to support a roller with a friction type bearing. not a good idea!
