I live in Wisconsin, and two years a go when Birds and Blooms started their promotional process, they send certain people a free review copy of their magazine, along with a sweepstakes offer. Between the sweepstakes and the beautiful colors, I ended up a purchasing a year subscription.
I must admit that inside is not filled much advice pertaining to gardening, but instead filled with the best photography of gardens, birds, butterflies and projects that I have ever seen.
The photos are done with a high glossy finish that gives the pictures that high quality look. The photos are not done with air brushing either, if there is a slight error it adds to the beauty of the picture. It is Mother Nature at her very best, in all her Spring and Summer glory. The colors are so vibraint, they practically leap off the pages into your home and showering your home with a fresh breath of Spring/Summer.
Readers are invited to send in photos of their gardens, flowers and veggies. They also have wonderful photos of readers gardens and children amongst the gardens. I have seen so many creative ideas that came from the readers themselves, that when I recieve a copy I open to that area now. I copied one woman's idea of making my own gazebo with ivies, but I added a touch of daisies, and my gazebo is only three feet high.
I also appreciate that there is very little advertising in this magazine. What advertising there is consist of gardening products. I also am proud to say this is a Wisconsin based magazine. It has shown some of the best photos from the Door County areas to Alaska gardens. You get everywhere and everything.
I highly appreciate and recommend this magazine to readers whom enjoy the beauty of flowers and gardens. The price is more then worth its value, and readers will find themselves cutting out photos and sticking them in frames and putting on their bathroom walls. (I now a couple people who do this, the photos are that beautiful.)
