Pros: Relentless laughs; Barry's wicked satirical style translates very well to fiction.
Cons: Won't strain your brain.
The Bottom Line: The best you can do is to not drink much before you read Big Trouble, because you will wet yourself eventually.
Review: During the Election Heard (and subsequently Laughed About) 'Round The World last winter, Dave Barry made a rare television appearance on Larry King Live as part of a humorist panel's view on the election. And for a few precious minutes, Larry King Live...

Pros: Funny, compelling, a quick read, overall great.
Cons: He hasn't yet written another.
Review: Well, for those of you who may have doubted Dave Barry's ability to write a good novel, you're in for a big surprise, because "Big Trouble" is great.
I know, because I just read it last night. In 2 hours. I simply couldn't put it... |

Pros: Laugh like you've never laughed before, interesting plot and characters.
Cons: It's Dave Barry in a bit more.....hardcore fassion.
The Bottom Line: Great, funny book you can read over and over.
Review: Dave Barry is one of the most famous writers of all time, and possibly the funniest person in the history of the world. He appears in over 800 newspapers every Sunday to spout out exaggerated and often hilarious views on issues he considers important,...

Pros: Extremely humorous and clever, Easy read, Great colorful characters,Great use of setting
Cons: Wish it were longer, A bit predictable
Review: An earlier epinion focused on the fact that this first novel by Dave Barry was more or less a collection of some of his essays combined into a single narrative. I had never read any of Barry's previous essays nor seen him speak or perform, prior to...

Pros: well written story with great characters and plot and amazingly funny
Cons: strong language at times
The Bottom Line: Definitely pick up and read Big Trouble. You'll keep reading because of the humor and the plot
Review: As part of the internet generation, I am used to writing lol (for those not in the internet generation that is short for laugh out loud) quite often when in fact i barely broke a smile. Well, while reading Dave Barry's Big Trouble lol was not simply an...

Pros: WOW! This book perfectly mixes a simple edge-of-your-seat thrill ride with Barry's trademark laugh-out-loud satire!
Cons: I wish a few characters got a lot more time.
The Bottom Line: This should defenitley be a fun read for the late teenage and adult group. Pick it up if you fall into that category, just don't expect everything to be humorous.
Review: I ordered Big Trouble from Amazon.com because I had recently become addicted to Dave Barry--plus, the upcoming movie piqued my interest. Today, at around 1:00 PM, I got it from UPS. An hour ago, at around 10:45 PM, I had gone through all 317...

Pros: a little too suspenseful...i wet my pants
Cons: a little too suspenseful...i wet my pants
Review: Dave Barry has once again risen to the murky surface, circumcising a dying foreskin, revitalizing the precious gem that is syndicated humor columnist bliss. What more could one man accomplish? Publishing best-selling non-fiction and winning a Pulitzer...

Pros: Funny, Suspenseful, some of Dave Barry's best work
Cons: Gets a little confusing as the action speeds up, many characters to follow
Review: Dave Barry has long been known as an excellent humor columnist and humor writer. However, a few years ago, Barry tried his hand at writing fiction when he wrote the first chapter of the collaboration "Naked Came the Manatee" (a novel which was...

Pros: EVERYTHING! EXCELLENT STORY
Cons: none to speak of
Review: I do not think that I have ever laughed so hard at a book in my entire life. Two scenes especially in the book had me laughing so hard I was crying, as my family looked at me though I was insane. The first scene that had me hysterical was when two high...

Pros: fun
Cons: not profound
Review: After having read the book in one sitting i'll have to say a couple of things.
As one of the other members posted, the book had this eerie feeling that it was based on Dave Barry's columns. The reality as i see it, is that Dave Barry loves to... |
