Martin 'Flips' the script!

In the fashion of The Flip Wilson Show from 1970 to 74 Martin Lawrence comes out a boisterously entertaining winner. I remember Flip Wilson’s most memorable character on the variety show the sassy Geraldine who liked to quip “What you see is what you get.”
Martin Lawrence’s is extremely funny in this film with as many quips as Flip Wilson’s character Geraldine in this movie. Lawrence portrays the role of a FBI agent Malcolm Turner who goes undercover to trap a bloodthirsty bank robber. While disguised the sassy, mammoth grandmother Big Momma, FBI agent Malcolm Turner tries to squeeze information out of the bank robbers’ ex-girlfriend only to find himself falling for her. The bank robbers ex-girlfriend is played by the attractive Nia Long, although rumor has it she’s pregnant you can’t tell in the movie. If you liked the Martin Lawrence TV show then you will love this film.
The film starts off showcasing Lawrence undercover playing the role of an elderly, kung fu fighting Asian man it’s hilarious.
Then he flips the script as the bionic pistol packing Big Mamma; she can jump, run, play basketball, beat up a rental cop, and do more than any older adult. Big Mamma reminds me of “The Nutty Professor" watching Lawrence in make up. The theater was full of laughter. Director Raja Gosnell created a funny comedy that might not get him two thumbs up but the everyday stiff that looking for some good popcorn fun. What you see is definitely what you get!
