Benny and Joon

Benny and Joon is a movie about a brother and a sister who are co-existing together. The brother, Benny, has decided to devote himself to the care of his mentally ill sister, Joon.
The movie portrays some of the actions of a mentally ill person, such as carelessly setting fires, and holding up traffic. These are all characteristics that are similar to what a mentally ill person may experience.
It shows one scene of Joon hearing voices on the bus, which depicts Joon's symptoms of mental illness.
I thought the movie was good because it didn't focus on trying to show the movie watchers what mentally ill people do. Instead I think the movie is intended for those who may have mental illness in the family.
I personally loved the movie and thought it was brilliantly set up. It takes the stigma out of mental illness and focused on what seemed to be having Joon lead a normal life, as much as possible.
A must see if you are compassionate in the struggles of a mentally ill person.
