Product Review

Best UPS I've ever owned.

by   bobsherman ,   Feb 4, 2007

Pros:  Lowest cost per power output, great software, sleek look, many outlets and rock-solid reliability.

Cons:  none

The Bottom Line:  This unit cannot be beat in terms of form (sleek look and silent operation), function (great software) or the power output for the dollar spent.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I've owned APC, Cyberlabs, and Nextgrid UPS systems. The Belkin F6C1500 model blows them all away... not even close. First, the cost per power output by this unit is half the cost of other models. Second, this unit is dead silent... other makers all have loud fans. Third this unit has a really sleek appearance... no one wants to look at a clunky UPS beside your sleek looking PC. Fourth, the software that comes with this unit tells you everything you could ever want to know about the unit status and your power line quality... the software can even be configured to send you emails if a scheduled self-test fails. The junk software provided by other makers normally only provides shutdown functionality. Last and not least, this unit has rock solid reliability.

Don't let the cost scare you off. I've tried the $75 (and under) UPS models. The problem is that when you put a 19" flat screen monitor and a PC on one of these cheaper units... they're running at 75% capacity... most makers won't admit it, but this dramatically reduces the life of the UPS (to a life of 1 year or less). This unit handles the same load running at ~30% of capacity... the end result... no reliability problems, longer life, room to grow, and peace of mind.
