Author's Review
I charged it up and tested it out. It did it's job flawlessly. There is an option to turn off the sound, which is nice if you have a sound-sensitive environment. However, it would have been nice if the alarm itself was louder. It sounds just like the alarm my washing machine sounds as it completes it's cycle, so hopefully I won't freak out during a storm when doing laundry! haha The battery is easily changed, which is a neat feature. The construction of the UPS is pretty good. It feels sturdy and I think it would survive a hard drop to a cement floor just fine. Although, I am not going to test my theory!
This particular UPS is perfectly suited for a telecom closet, which is where I put it. It is wall mountable. It was important for my network setup that the UPS be wall mountable. It has enough juice to supply your wireless router, bridges, hubs, VOIP, NAS drive, cable modem, broadband booster, a notebook, or any other low wattage items. I probably could easily let mine run for more than an hour (with six devices on it) during a power outage. It is very important that I have that option, as my NAS drive (Network Attached Storage) is on this UPS. If I need to save a file I was working on, I can now do it. I like the idea of having my entire network operational during a power outage.
This unit does offer RJ-11 Modem/Fax/DSL protection, but I don't use any of those.
I think this unit would be fine for a (low-wattage) PC or notebook setup, but I would definitely recommend one with more backup power for one of my PC's.
I definitely whole heartedly recommend this product for low-wattage backup purposes.
