Author's Review
Even though you won't get rich playing this game, despite all the shiny gems, it will enrich your computer gaming experience. This game is more addicting than any drug out there. The only con about this game is the elevator style music.
Here it is, if you haven't played the first game. The idea of this game is to set gems up for connections of three or more gems. The more gems you connect, the more points you get. The idea of the game is just that throughout the four modes of play. Now you know what Bejeweled is about, heres all the other good stuff.
Everything about this game is totally addictive. The gameplay, even though repetitive is never-ending. There are several improvements over the original which vastly improves replay value. Just trying to beat your own score is as competitive as any online play available. Also, the addition of special gems will make anyone want to play even more. Normal connections are fine, but when you connect four gems, that leads to an explosive gem. Hence it's name, this gem explodes with some force and will set off more explosions in it's radius. The more elusive special gem is a glowing orb that only appears when you connect five gems of the same color. This "orb" when you select it and an adjacent gem will electrify all gems on screen of that color. It's a great way to clean up all those pesky gems that clutter your screen. The game also incorporates four game modes; classic, arcade; puzzle and endless. The classic game is just that, plain old bejeweled with the bells and whistles described above. The classic version will bring your gameplay to a screeching halt when you run out of moves though, which is annoying after the tenth time that it happened, in a row. The arcade version is bejeweled on a timer, very addictive but fast paced. The puzzle version is more challenging, but frustrating if you make a wrong move. The endless version is just that, never ending. The best part about the endless version is that you never run out of moves, but that is also the worst part, because since you do not run out of moves, you want to keep going which is difficult at 5am when you are dead tired but addicted. In all, Bejewled 2 is a lot better than Bejeweled.
