Battletanx: Global Greatness
Pros:
There's an uncircumscribed assemblage of levels, unprecedented tanks, advanced intonations, multiplayer modes, and detrimental ballistics.
Cons:
It doesn't incorporate the same tenebrous and rugged atmosphere/feeling that's embodied inside its counterpart.
The Bottom Line:
Although divergent in multinominal ways, it embosoms the coalescent animus that the original Battletanx concealed. If you enjoy the venerable game, you'll certainly like Global Assault much, much more.

Author's Review
When I first acquired this game, I truly wondered if this modified tank game could match the standards of its captivating counterpart. Battletanx, the original, was a great game and helped the reputation of 3DO out a lot. However, once I played Battletanx Global Assault, I knew that 3DO constructed a game even better than the original. Now 3DO is one of my favorite game companies and every year, I check to see if they have come out with any other newer games that interest me. Maybe it was the ample numeration of the new, interesting, and attractive tanks, or maybe it was the newly improved multiplicity of weaponry, or it could have even been that little annoying computer voice repeating the word "power-up" millions of times. But one way or another, it was love at first sight for me.
The greatest difference that dwelled in this game and existed in no other game (especially the original Battletanx) was the graphics. The closest game that has even the most mediocre similarities in terms of graphics would be TWINE for the N64. Otherwise, no other game even comes close. The graphics contain very warm, summery colors and include more elegant and darker shades of the primary colors. The graphics are also purposely made unrealistically so a whole new kind of "animation" could be present. The music, even though unattractive, goes perfectly with the atmosphere of the game. Every level has a certain kind of musical tone for it and was obviously matched with much thought. The sounds are different yet hold some similar characteristics that thrives in the old Battletanx. They are definitely above average but I wouldn't say that they are sensational. On the side of the learning curve, Global Assault is egregiously easy to play. In literally, two minutes, I knew ever control and what every little button did. Even though the learning curve is superior, I wouldn't note the replay value as having the same notability. The game will last a while, but after that, it's not very stimulating. However, I must note that the multiplayer mode does provide a sufficient amount of entertainment if you have other friends to play with. So really, in the end, it all balances out.
The main differences between this game and the old Battletanx comes down to a few main notations. First of all, as I have mentioned before, the graphics are extremely different and pose no similarities to the first Battletanx. Next, the tanks are also quite different and this also proceeds along will the projectiles used. The three main tanks are used but a whole tabulation of tanks have also been added. Same thing with the weaponry. Also, some new multiplayer modes have been added and to be truthful, the game is more fun in the multiplayer modes than the campaign mode. The final critical difference is the fact that two people can play the campaign mode (playing through all of the levels) rather than just one. This may sound like a mediocre difference but the game is three times more fun when played with another person than with just yourself. I must note though that only one other person can play and that the levels are identical to the levels in the one player campaign mode. Also, you both share the same amounts of lives. So if you try to destroy each other or if one person gets him/herself destroyed too many times, both players will feel the wrath of the mistake committed.
Though almost a completely superior game, the "tabefactions" sojourning in Battletanx Global Assault are conspicuous and definitely should be accentuated. Mainly and most importantly, this game does not encircle the same rugged action that the original Battletanx so exquisitely provided. The original Battletanx gave off a frightening feeling of what is coming up next, but this game truly reduces this original feeling and doesn't try to employ it. Along with that, you actually need some strategy to get through the levels and you can't just have an all out attack against the enemy like you could in the old game. Also, in the multiplayer modes, the computer is not a very challenging opponent and is quite easy to defeat. The only mode that I even consider to be challenging is the Tank Wars mode. Other than that mode, you really need friends to play with for this game. Finally, there is an obvious imbalance in the ability of the tanks. If this game were to be superb (it almost is), it would have the tanks employ very different specialties, and each speciality would be equally effective. This game has the very different specialties, but it is quite obvious that some specialties are better than others. For example, even though the flamethrower tank (the Inferno) is quick and lethal at close ranges (its specialties), it is probably the worst tank in the game. This also exists in many other tanks provided in the game.
Collectively, Battletanx Global Assault shows superiority in the critical areas and the negatives thrive on the side and in the non-essential areas. I may have even overstated the negatives just a little to get my point across. I do really believe that this game deserves its five stars and I would without thought recommend it to any person who is looking for a good action game. The graphics alone makes Global Assault a game to be reckoned with. Its sensual colors and cultivated warfare suavely add to the excellence of this game. Global Assault should be procured by any person who loves multiplayer games and who thrives on the idea, presentation, layout, and intent of the original Battletanx game. You will be glad that you got global greatness in one little game, Battletanx Global Assault.
