Batman (1989) - Michael Keaton's Got the Best Toys |
|||
|
Pros: story, acting by the main characters, sets, special effects
Cons: no extras on the DVD
The Bottom Line: If only they had continued to be as good as this, the franchise wouldn't have had to be "re-invented" a few years ago.
Review: When Tim Burton took on the Directors job for the 1989 version of Batman, fans knew they were in for something much different than the campy, cartoonish television show. Burton had a reputation for seeing the dark side of things, and ...

Pros: great casting, dark like it needed to be, Nicholson, Keaton, Basinger, great score
Cons: re-writing of back story
The Bottom Line: Simply an excellent entry in the comic book film genre, it really raised the bar for everything that would come after it. Highly recommended.
Review: With 1989's release of Batman, the whole comic book genre of films was re-written, and the road was paved for everything that would come after it. Not only that, but taking in over $200 million in the box office showed that people were willing to come ...

Pros: superb visuals, arresting viewing....etc
Cons: Batman isn't quite insane enough
The Bottom Line: Fantastic!
Review: Of course, everyone knows the story of this film. The action takes place in Gotham City- a crime infested sess pool of seemingly perpetual night. For too long the people of Gotham have been terrorised by the thugs, gangs, muggers and gangsters who rule ...

Pros: great acting and score, dark atmosphere, lots of DVD extras
Cons: weak songs by "Prince" or whatever he is these days
The Bottom Line: Worth any super hero buff's DVD collection
Review: Batman to this day remains one of my favorite super hero to screen adaptations. Part of that comes from the comics being among my favorites. Ive been fascinated with Batman for a long time even to the point of writing a highly praised college term ...

Pros: Great acting from the entire cast, especially Jack Nicholson.
Cons: Special effects are a bit dated, but that's expected.
The Bottom Line: It's the gold standard of comic book movies, and should be emulated as much as possible, no questions asked. Christopher Nolan did just that to amazing success.
Review: It in 1989 when I watched the Batman movie, just as the fad of T-shirts, skateboards, bumper stickers, and all kind of other merchandise was hitting the country, and to a lesser extent the world. This movie also got me a lot more interested in the campy ...

Pros: the performances, the set design, the action, the dark humor, and just about everything else.
Cons: The plot seems a bit too non-existent
The Bottom Line: This is one of the best films I have ever laid my eyes on.
Review: Ever since the dawn of comic books, the Dark Knight a.k.a. Batman, has been one the most popular in the genre. In 1978, Warner Bros. released the motion picture Superman: The Movie. The film was a monster hit and declared as one the ...

Pros: Jack Nicholson as the Joker, direction, dark story, great use of dark humour
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: Amazing entertainment. Worth seeing for the Joker alone.
Review: I love intelligent movies. Anything by Stanley Kubrick or M. Night Shyamalan blows my mind. But there are films just as dear to my heart that aren't really intelligent at all. They're just pure entertainment, unbelievable fun. Being a longtime Spider ...

Pros: Great acting, great director, a great movie
Cons: None for me
The Bottom Line:
Warner Bros and Burton come together for the first attempt at the Dark Knight and the result is, in my opinion, the best adaptation. Review: Written by Sam Hamm, Warren Skaaren and directed by Tim Burton, Batman is the first in a series of films about the comic book hero that was released back in August 1989. This is a review of the film only. ****Story line**** ...

Pros: Jack Nicholson IS the Joker
Cons: Meh, lighting may be considered low tech by today's standards
The Bottom Line: I would definately recommend this movie. Not only is the Joker my favorite Batman villain, but the actor who plays him is phenomenal
Review: I have seen all 4 movies of the Batman series, and I can honestly say that the rumors are true: There is only Batman. Or in this case, there is only one Joker The movie takes place in Gotham City (of course), a a gringy city infested with crime and ...
