Best of its kind

Of all of the single species magazines, Bassmaster is heads and shoulders above the crowd. They use their network of Bassmaster pros to bring in information and insights into bass fishing that gives the reader a diverse body of information and opinion. While their copy editors may not be Hemingway, they distill this information into prose that can be understood by anyone capable of reading. Further, Bassmaster has been consistent with its conservation stands (not all of which I agree).

For years, Bassmaster felt the strong influence of Ray Scott, its founder. Now that he's sold the company to Helen Sevier, some minor changes have been noted. One positive change was the hiring of Homer Circle as an editor. Uncle Homer is probably the greatest living fishing writer, not only for his technical knowleg but he also breathes soul into the sport. Bassmaster is going through some growing pains right now, but they're still the best of their breed. If you know your flippin' stick from your worm rod, Bassmaster is for you. If you're looking for info on how to snag huge pike, you'd better go elsewhere
