Though I will still recommend this video for others, because of its colorful and beautiful moments and its well-placed classical music, I can honestly say it is a disappointment to me. My son forgets about it after about 5 minutes. :(
If I pop in Baby Van Gogh, my 10 month old (he's 10 months today!!) gets excited... at first. I think he believes he's about to watch
Baby Shakespeare!!! When he realizes it's Baby Van Gogh, he pretty much snubs its existence and continues fussing or trying to climb furniture or whatever else he's doing to which Mommy (that's
me) more than likely ends up saying, "No No, Baby!"
Baby Van Gogh is a lovely creation. Colors are the attractions in this video. We get to see all sorts of things that are yellow, orange, red, blue, green, etc. The colors are confirmed by the word name of each color before and after its corresponding "scene." Also, there are adorable children who say the colors' names. Plus, like Baby Shakespeare, Baby Van Gogh includes little "interludes" where puppets play and toys zoom and a couple psychadelically colorful objects spin or swirl or bubble.
I tell you, I
love watching this thing. I just wish my boy did. Like my son, I also enjoy Baby Shakespeare more than I do Baby Van Gogh, but I
still like Baby Van Gogh! I don't know what the huge difference is that keeps my son from enjoying Baby Van Gogh, but, apparently, there is one. When Baby Van Gogh is on, I might as well be watching Jeopardy or something. :) Ethan just doesn't care.
So, I
do recommend this video, for every baby is different, and it is a great video. However, it just hasn't done the trick for my baby.
A good age group, in my opinion, for these videos, is Birth to age 2. But I have a feeling that after about 1 year of age, any child will get bored with them... unfortunately.. because I like them!! :)
I'm still planning on checking out the other videos in this series, as I've only seen two of them. This one and Baby Shakespeare (which my baby LOVES!).

[So far (as of 07/10/2001), my opinion is the only one there on that video!! I'm SURE someone ELSE has watched it!]
Thanks for reading.
