Cons:
umm.... BMWs cost alot to fix...even if insurance picks it up...
The Bottom Line:
If safety is an issue for the purchase of your next car... pay the extra for a BMW.

Just this morning my mother was driving me to school when someone hit the rear, left side wheel well of our 03 BMW 540i at around 40 miles an hour by a Ford Focus. After the collision, our car did a 360 spin and winded up on the onramp of a local highway. To us, the collision seemed like a small push rather then the metal crushing clash that it was. Upon hitting, the rear left side (side) airbag and front driver side window curtain engaged... nothing else... This was a GOOD thing because if the main airbag went off, my mother would have susstained a considerable injury. Fortunately for us BOTH OF US walked out with NOT EVEN A BRUISE. After impact, the doors all unlocked, the lights when on and the emergency flashers when on. We were amazed to see the ford focus (which had now done a 180 and on the wrong side of the road), was TOTALED from the front end. Our car (though not drivable due to rear axle damage)looked 20 times better. Let me just say that the saftey worked WONDERFULLY and probably saved our lives or atleast a couple of limbs. THE CAR IS WORTH THE MONEY JUST FOR THE SAFETY!!!!!!!
As for the rest of the car...
Handling-Unbelievable. The car weighs around 3700 pounds in an automatic and it handles like a 3000 pound car. Very little body roll and very controlable.
Acceleration-simply amazing. This thing is a rocketship. When the kickdown is used (the maximum distance of the gas pedal), the car accelerates the big 60 in only around 5.9-6 seconds. The car also has amazing passing power and is a prize stallion on the highway.
Braking-Very fast-I think it has a 135 ft 60-0 stopping power.
Looks-classy...need I say more...
