I love this car! The 330i has been my dream car for about 3 years now and I spent forever trying to find one that was perfect but not a total rip off. This car is everything I dreamed of and more!!! I researched every single possible car that was even somewhat comparable to this car, but nothing compares when it comes to build quality, dependability and flat out butt kickin' speed all wrapped up into a 4 door sedan
I have had the worst experience with American cars and I will never buy another one. My parents, brother and sister all own Chrysler made vehicles ( I.E. Plymouth & Dodge) and 3 of the 4 vehicles have had big transmission problems all while being under 80,000 miles, not to mention many other problems! Also, I own a Chevy Z34 and the piece of crap wont go into gear and mechanics can't figure out if it's an electronic problem or an actual transmission. One way or another it would cost more to fix it than it's worth! It only has 96,000 miles on it and Ive seriously taken good care of the car! I rest my case on American cars... I'm done with them.
So anyways, back to this BMW... If you're thinking about a 330i, GET IT! I'm the kind of guy that can't settle for 2nd best like a 325i, so I waited a long time! Also, don't get ripped off by the dealers! My set budget was $25,000 and nothing more... I had to wait a long LONG time to find the perfect color, engine and mileage all within 100 miles of my house. I bought my 330i for just under $25,000 from Sonoma Auto Center in Vallejo, CA and I love knowing that I saved almost $8,000 compared to the Local BMW dealers sale price for the exact same car!
The handling on this car is insane to say the least! It's just like I dreamed and lives up to every expectation! It also hauls balls and I can smoke just about anyone off the line including most V8s and it eats all those crappy little rice burners out there without even trying.
I have to say that getting this car in an automatic would be an atrocity/disgrace! Motor Trend got a consistent 0-60 of 5.8 seconds with their stick 2002 330i sport and most other sites report very low 6 second 0-60s. However, the automatics 0-60 is more like 7 seconds and what fun is a performance sedan if you dont have full control???
I guess to top it all off the car is extremely comfortable and I love being a 20 year old pulling up to a gas station wearing a pair of old shorts a goodwill t-shirt and people asking/complimenting me about the car. You've got to admit, half of owning a BMW is just for the fact that it's a BMW.
I would recommend this car to anyone who wants the functionality of a 4 door, but the butt kickin' of a V8 all wrapped in one glorious package of luxury with a straight 6 which means good gas mileage!
