Vavoom!: German Engineering at its Finest

by   isong ,  Mar 20, 2000
Pros: Excellent road manners, Peppy acceleration, Nice luxury features, BMW quality, Long-lasting engine, Quite possibly the perfect sport-coupe
Cons: Price, Repair costs, Insurance costs
Review: FIRST IMPRESSION:
The 1999 BMW M3 may be one of the most perfect cars on the planet today. By saying perfect, I mean that the balance of power and amenities are exactly fit to suit the driver's needs. The engineers at BMW...

1999 M3 Coupe

by   aaquino ,  Oct 25, 1999
Pros: Best bang for the buck period; Race car with room for 4 and their luggage!
Cons: Umm....Needs 2 more doors; Crappy cupholders
Review: MY OPINIONS
Most of what you'll read from my ratings are based solely on my opinions and will not discuss deep details regarding car specifications. Detailed specs can, of course, be found at other websites such as

Considering a Used M3?

by   gstutz ,  Aug 7, 2006
Pros: Power, handling, head turning quotient (HUGE!), comfort (will not wear you out)
Cons: None. Absolutely none. Many complain about the plastic rear window. So what??!!
The Bottom Line: If you are considering buying a Used M3, go for it. You will not regret it.
Review: I purchased a 1999 M3 convertible sight unseen on eBay this Spring. My son and I flew to Miami (from Maryland) and the purchaser met us at the airport with the car. Away we went. I was a bit concerned that the car had 95,000 miles on it, but the ...

BEST PERFORMING CAR under 50g and maybe above!

by   quiksilver911 ,  Oct 8, 2002
Pros: Best performance and quality for money; Reliable; Stylish; FUN FUN FUN!
Cons: May be considered pricey.
The Bottom Line: Want safety? performance? reliability? comfort? something unique and will turn heads? The M3 is your car.
Review: The E36 M3 (91-99) could very well be the best performing car for $50,000 or less. To be honest, this car can out perform many cars up till the $100,000 range. In my opinion you wont find a big change in performance until you reach a vehicle such as the...

The Best Handling Around..

by   m3buff ,  Feb 1, 2001
Pros: Incredible. Smooth, powerful acceleration
Cons: INTERIOR is a little bland
The Bottom Line: It's a whole lot of fun for a price that won't break your bank (compared to its competitors).
Review: STRENGTHS:
PERFORMANCE: Incredible. Smooth, powerful acceleration. 0-60 in 5.4s. Hits 90 just on onramps. 60-0 in 116 feet. Surreal brakes! Unparalleled passing power. Not enough O's in smoooooth to describe this engine. Handling is simply out of...

The Ultimate Tanning Machine

by   jeffdiaz ,  May 24, 2001
Pros: excellent handling, good power, fun to drive
Cons: high price, high-priced parts, power drop-off
The Bottom Line: This is the best sports car on the road. Excellent performance and superior handling.
Review: The BMW M3 convertible is the best car I've ever driven, hands down. BMW's are called the ultimate driving machine, and it's true. They drive like no other car on the road. The M3 is definitely one of the best. It's nimble, powerful, and sticks to...

The 2001 BMW M3 (E46 style)

by   JTroll ,  Jun 7, 2000
Pros: 330 hp, great torque, excellent handling, will beat Porches silly
Cons: A bit high-end; slight oversteer? Small back seats; count on two adults comfortably
The Bottom Line: The E46 M3 is the supreme monarch of cars; it is indeed a thinly-disguised racing machine, while still maintaining the sophistication of a saint.
Review: The following article was written during the summer of 2000... as such, it is extremely dated. Currently as of March 2001, the release date of the E46 M3 is set in about April; the company that I work for, Dinan Engineering, is going to receive the...

Hold on tight b/c this car hauls . . .

by   voodoo8-8 ,  Apr 26, 2001
Pros: Grabs at the curves like a 50 year old hitting on a 21 year old!!
Cons: Uuuummmmmmm, I can't afford two?!
The Bottom Line: This is the ultimate blend of style, sophistication, and power on the road for such a reasonable price.
Review: I began test driving at the Lexus dealer but wasn't satisfied with what I was getting for the money. Too much fluff and not enough raw power and performance. The purr of the engine as I accelerate on Lake Shore Drive gives me so much pleasure that is...

BMW E46 M3

by   roryh ,  Dec 2, 1999
Pros: Performance
Cons: Price
Review: The new E46 BMW looks darn nice!!! It was shown at the Frankfurt auto show this year and hopefully will be North America by 2001. A promising 360 hp engine with a 6 speed manual has replaced the North American 240 hp engine. Power Galore! I would give...
