Author's Review
I recently got the itch to buy a nice luxury car, but didn't have $40K to spend. I started researching BMW's and found numerous owner web site to help answer my questions and narrow down the list. I finally test drove a 1994 5 series and while the drive was impressive, I wanted more. Once I began looking at the 7 series, I never turned back. I purchased this car in December 2003 and I love it! This is truly the ultimate driving machine! The ride is smooth and the on board luxury items are plentiful. From the automatic rear sun shade to the memory seats, I am a BMW believer. Now, there are many "known" issues with the 740iL. Specifically for 1995...the nikasil engine issue. If you search the internet, you'll find many articles related to Nikasil. My 95 had an Alusil put in at 10K miles. The radiators are known for going out at 80-100k miles as is the wheel bushings, break pads/rotors and other minor things, but with 99K miles, you'll have these issues with most used cars at some point. I am prepared to spend a little money to drive a car that was once $85,000.
