Same Old Stuff

The Bottom Line: I'm going to tryout Bic's dry correction tape because this Bic product is out dated.
As long as can I remember my parent's have always had a bottle of
White Out.
The history on this product shows it goes back to 1966. The product received its patent February 5 1974. It started out as water soluble for easy clean up. The product was changed some time during or after 1981 to a solvent base to shorten drying time. In 1992 White out was bought out by Bic.
My father used the product while proof reading his school assignments during college, and my mother used gallons of the product while performing her editing job out of the home.
As long as I lived at home there was always a bottle of white out around. The children were never allowed to use it though, something about making a mess, just use an eraser, and who said you could use a pen on your homework.
I always knew I would have to keep white out around once I grew up and moved out. It was one of those constants I grew up with.
So when I was on my own I kept some around for quite a while. What I began to realize though was that this stuff is awful.
I mean sure it does cover up a mistake in a pinch and it looks OK from a distance but you still have to make another copy and hope your mistake and the white out doesn't show through.
How about if you need to write or type over top of the mistake? Good luck making it look good you'll need it.
Don't take your time applying the solution or you'll find out its quick drying attribute will frustrate you. If your slow at this application process a couple of times you have an appalling white wart. Sometimes it just dries before you can apply it for no apparent reason. Don't leave the lid off for any length of time or it will be dried out.
If you read the back of this bottle you'll find warnings of harmful vapors and flammability. Oh yeah, don't huff the stuff it says that could be fatal.
Whats the answer? Its good to have around because sometimes I really need to have the ability to cover up a mistake. But I haven't stopped looking for a better replacement product.
