"Get Love & Respect, with no special effects"; Xzibit is At the Speed of Life

Date of Review:  Mar 17, 2005
The Bottom Line: If you're going to pick up a Westcoast album, this is a fantastic place to start; deliberately avoiding cliche, At The Speed of Life gambles, and hits the jackpot.
Review: 1996 was a very underrated year for hip hip. Not only did Jay-Z, Ras Kass, Redman, 2Pac, Nas (plus a whole load of others who I can't remember right now) release great albums, but erstwhile Likwit Crew member and Westcoast heavyweight Xzibit...

Buckle you're seat belts, Xzibit comes at you At the Speed of Life

Date of Review:  Jun 20, 2003
The Bottom Line: Xzibit at the Top of his game...
Review:

"X-to-tha-Z" Xzibit has always been one of the most underrated acts in hip-hop music. His illuminary and intelligent, yet vicous lyrics and delivery have secured him a spot in being one of my personal favorite emcees, who are seemingly...

Ladies and gentleman, please welcome the debut of the dysfunctional member of the Alkaholik family...Xzibit

The Bottom Line: Read the review
Review: In hip hop, the term selling out is a tag that many respected emcees have unfortunately had the misfortunate of being labelled with. Now over time many artists have been slapped with this undesirable tag, mainly due to the same reason...

At The Speed Of Life: More Proof That The West Coast Contains Many Hidden Talents

Date of Review:  Jul 1, 2003
The Bottom Line: While it may suffer from some shortcomings, that's still not enough for me not to say that this LP definitely belongs in any true Hip-Hop head's collection.
Review: The West Coast Hip-Hop scene has been known for more than a decade as the section of the United States to glorify violence, sex, drinking liquor, etc... It's also widely thought that any artist coming from that area more than likely follows the...

"You are a breath of fresh air in this world of sh-t"

Date of Review:  Mar 22, 2005
The Bottom Line: Xzibit excels the competition creating a more than solid West Coast classic.
Review: I've forever been a bigger supporter of East Coast hip hop than West. Now no matter how hard people try to convince me I frankly believe that East Coast artists produce more intellectual and listenable hip hop music than West Coast artists. However...

Xzibiting His Talent

Date of Review:  Dec 12, 2000
Review: Xzibit's 1996 debut, "At The Speed of Life" came at a time when the majority of West Coast hip-hop artists were involved in gangsta rap. With roots in Detroit, his east-coast influence shows in the rugged realism of his lyrics, while still keeping a...

Great Debut by the liquid Emcee

Date of Review:  Aug 12, 2003
The Bottom Line: Great!
Review: Xzibit's "At the Speed of Life" marks the beginning of a great MC's career. Like most good debut albums, it shows the artist's true thoughts, and not what the crowd wants to hear. You can already see some of that in Xzibit's sophomore LP "40 dayz...
