Product Review

I can't seem to live without it.

by   williamsbk ,   Nov 30, 2008

Pros:  Great to write on and big enough to get all your appointments on.

Cons:  The corner pockets come off after a few months.

The Bottom Line:  I really like the desk pad and it has several uses.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I was at the kitchen counter writing down ideas for my next review. Suddenly my pencil caught something on the counter and made a goofy looking letter. I thought to myself, I never have this happen when I am at my desk at work, what is the difference?

I got to work and sat at my desk and started to write some report. The letters wrote so smoothly and never jumped around as they did at home. I realized that the reason was I was writing on the At-A-Glance Desk Pad. I looked at the desk pad and there was doodling in the corner, from when I was bored and on the telephone. There were appointments written on several days with the time and place and phone numbers with a note to put this in my phone journal. I wondered what the next month had. I turned the page and found I had five or six appointments but the pad looked new. I transferred the numbers and tore off the old page.(I wouldn't be back to work until the first) It looked like a whole new desk top.

I have been in my office for over six years. I remember back two years ago the office was cutting back some of the unnecessary items. One of the first to go was the desk top calendars. I remembered looking to see what appointments I had coming up and the desk was clear. I had to look in my notebook that now doubled as an appointment calendar. What a pain. Every time I had to write a report I had to find a note pad to put under the report form. I had no place to doodle. I don't know about everyone else but to write on a wooden desk top is hard, the pencil follows every groove in the wood. The reports end up looking they were written by a three year old. The next year we got the At-A-Glance Desk pad back and I was relieved. I said I will never go without one again, even if I have to buy it.

The pad is 22 inches across and 17 inches tall. The boxes are 3 inches by 2-1/16 inches, which is plenty of room to write in two or three appointments and times, even places. It is handy because the budget gets the planners in January. By the time I actually see it in March, I am okay because they include sixteen months.

One year at home we had several things coming up including a wedding. The calendars we had were to small to write everything in the small squares they provide. So we hung one of the desk top calendars on the inside of the kitchen pantry door. It was fast and easy to see what was going on that month and big enough to get everyone's schedules written down. The edges have a pockets to hold the pages, so if you turned the page you could see what you needed to see and put the paper back into these pockets and there were no loose and fluttering pages.

I have come to the conclusion that the At-A-Glance Desk Pad is a very useful and important addition for me. Now for even more good news! This desk pad is a little over $10.00 at the Office Max store. I haven't seen them in places like Kmart or Walmart but allof the office supply stores will carry them, or you can order them on line for about the same price. Try one I think you'll like it.
