I had originally bought the Micro Touch trimmer to touch up after shaving, some of the spots that the electric razor doesn't get, plus straggler hairs on the neck, as well as nose and ear hair.
It really doesn't do that very well. It'll make a little bit of difference if the hairs are long, but it really doesn't clear things out as well as you'd expect, given the advertising. The advertising is right about it being non-irritating.
However, by accident, I found a great use for it and it's wonderful.
You see, my wife is disabled and I help her with her personal care as needed. Most of what I need to do is no problem. However, I really hate to shave her arms and legs. Maybe it's because she used to get nicks and irritation.
Before I discovered that the microtouch does this well, we had conversations like this:
her: "It's time to shave"
me: "Why don't you just go European and stay natural?"
This is an obnoxious question because she's always talking up Italian family values. She says I'm too American, referring to certain family values. Well, yes, I am a red-blooded American. However, I can flip-flop when it suits me. Still, she won't fall for the European thing when it comes to her armpits.
The trimmer works great for this. In the spots that need shaving (ONLY THE ARMPITS AND LEGS), I use a small scissors to cut the longer hairs and then the trimmer wraps up. The lack of precision on my face, nose and ear, is not a problem for armpits and legs. My work gets done quickly and effectively, with no irritation.
The trimmer has worked reasonably well for a while on this. I thought battery life was a little low until I switched from Ray-O-Vac to Duracell, which improved it.
The goody bag I got initially was ok, with various mens grooming items. However, it's not available when you buy this in stores.
So, even though it's not so hot on what I bought it for, I can give it 3 stars and a mild recommendation for what it does.
