Great cosleeping option
Pros:
Great for cosleeping if you are concerned about overlying or smothering with adult bedding
Cons:
Very difficult to set up. Not truely portable for that reason.
The Bottom Line:
Recommended for cosleeping if you don't want a family bed. But you probably won't want to move it, and you have to lift your child out of it to nurse.

Author's Review
We bought the Universal co-sleeper because our newborn son seemed to fuss in his small stand-alone bassinet, even when right next to our bed. We wanted to have him close to us, but knew that with a double bed there was no way to safely co-sleep without this product. We got the universal because we have a futon, which is 18" tall. He really seems to like the co-sleeper, and goes to sleep in it very easily on his own. We use sleep positioners so we can put him down then leave the room for a few hours til we go to bed. I nurse him 2-3 times per night, which is easier in the co-sleeper than it was in the bassinet. I have to admit that it is not as easy as if he were in bed with me, but it is worth not worrying about overlying. I have a bad back, so getting him in and out of the co-sleeper to nurse involves me kneeling on our bed and lifting him out of the co-sleeper. I'm not sure how the people who designed this product expect one to get one's child in and out of it (the mattress rests about 4 inches below the rail, which is even with the top of our mattress), but the above-described method is the best way for me.
I love sleeping next to my infant son without worrying about overlying. I love waking up and seeing him right next to me. The mattress is better than the one in the evenflo pack and play we have (firmer and more supportive). This product provides good peace of mind.
I hated setting it up. It was such a pain, and it took me forever to figure out how to collapse the top rail. I was ready to pack it back up and return it in frustration, but finally I got it together (over a course of 2 days). I will not take it down to move it anywhere until my son is too big to sleep in it. It is just too difficult.
Overall, I like this product (now that it is set up). It is pricey, but it seems that the construction is higher quality than the less expensive pack and play we have.
