iMac 20" Intel Duo Core: Apples to Apples, this Mac is delicious

by   openroad ,  Feb 7, 2006
Pros: Svelte-yet-subtle good looks, takes no desktop space, crystal-clear screen, excellent software suite, best iMac yet!
Cons: Most 3rd-party software isn't optimized for Intel Duo, no other real drawbacks.
The Bottom Line: Apple has a middleweight star with the iMac-Duo, for most families and home users this is a perfect computing solution. However, software will need a few months to catch-up.

Beautiful Display, Blazing Performance, $100 Ed Store Discount - Apple iMac Core Duo 2.0GHz 20"

by   pilotpat ,  Jan 16, 2006
Pros: The display is absolutely beautiful! Blistering performance, Intel chip with Mac reliability. Value.
Cons: Mac Pro applications require upgrade. Software availability compared to PCs (without Virtual PC).
The Bottom Line: Beautiful machine, display, and performance. Great bang:buck ratio. For most users, 17" is a better value. If you run lots of PC-only software, maybe not the best option.
Review: The long-awaited iMac with Intel's Core Duo processor is here! After reviewing the 1 7-inch iMac Intel Duo Core, running the new 1.83GHz processor, I had this opportunity to review the new 20" 2.0GHz iMac, also ...

Simply Awesome (lengthy review)

by   tenshiryu ,  Jan 27, 2007
Pros: Intel processor is fast, price is fair, fun for all ages, multimedia center, Plug-n-Play peripherals
Cons: Default RAM isn't enough!! Must pay for winXP full version :(
The Bottom Line: For the price, you get all-in-one, and its ready to go in seconds. Also keeps desk space more open - great for those who don't have a lot of room.
Review: This is a very fun computer in all aspects. You can definitely tell the difference in size from the 17in. The 24in version wasn't out when I first bought this model, but needless to say, this is still a very awesome computer. Here's the breakdown: ...

by   fgtnfire ,  May 24, 2006
Pros: Fast, quite, great graphics, Seamless with IPOD
Cons: Better speakers, Thats it!!! Buy
The Bottom Line: Finally a MAC for reasonable price that has more power than any windows based machine I have owned and that is a lot.
Review: I bought a new Intel duo 20" screen and had it custom designed with 500gb drive 1gb memory. This machine is my first Mac and I can't tell you how great it is so far. I find software hard to come by write now due to companies scrambling to convert to the ...

iMac - It's a beautiful thing (a layman's view) - iMac vs. PC

by   kebodz_42 ,  Jun 19, 2008
Pros: It just works - Finally a computer that does what it promised to do
Cons: I'll let you know if there ever there is one
The Bottom Line: The small additional cost in buying a Mac is far outweighed but it's reliability, ease of use, features and looks - not mention the lack of frustration
Review: If you're looking for a high tech review of the Apple iMac, look elsewhere. This review is for the layman, the person with little tech savvy but high expectations. I've been a PC user for a full 7 years, a full 7 headache filled and often frustrating ...

Great computer, but don't buy Intel yet...

by   tobyfoote ,  Feb 25, 2006
Pros: Beautiful, virus-free, takes little desk real-estate, and easy to use...even for a Windows user.
Cons: Not as fast as the iMac G5 yet, because Rosetta has to convert PowerPC apps.
The Bottom Line: If you are looking for a new home computer, and all your software you *need* to use has a Mac version, GO APPLE.
Review: This review was written on 2/25/06. Right before the Macworld show this year, I bought the iMac G5 20" computer, and I love it. I've been a long time Windows users, and still do use Windows daily, but was tired of re-installing my home Windows ...

PC=''Personal Computer'' (Which Mac is. ... To the 'core')

by   RasGold ,  Oct 2, 2006
Pros: Better performance. Able to Multi-task with WIN98 and WINXP platforms.
Cons: Not upgradeable past 2gig RAM.
The Bottom Line: If you have a lot of high-end Video or Graphics work, this machine can greatly increase productivity. Keep your WIN PC for applications the Mac cannot handle.
Review: Over the past three decades, I've owned more computers than pairs of shoes ... From Commodore's PET, to Gateway's 550GR-Media Center. Each time I would upgrade the systems until they were maxed out.I'm a Video Production Artist and was getting ...

by   giphlag ,  Jan 30, 2006
Pros: Brilliant product design, iLife 06, fast performance and top of the line 20" screen.
Cons: Limited available software in universal binary format, sluggish performance under Rosetta
The Bottom Line: I recommend this computer to anyone looking for a superb desktop computer experience.

Runs XP Pro like a ...Pro

by   sirmacsalot ,  Nov 24, 2006
Pros: easier to set up than a 'real' PC
Cons: Needs wired keyboard during initial setup
Review: Having recently purchased two Intel iMacs I needed to add Windows XP Professional to each, and it couldn't have been easier. A quick trip to the Apple Web site to download the BootCamp utility, and a two step installation that in many ways was easier ...

Once Again Proving the PCs are best Suited as Paperweights

by   shanejayhayes ,  Feb 20, 2006
Pros: Easy Setup, Powerful enough for Pro Apps, Holds Value, Great Features
Cons: None
Review: The new dual core iMac is a true powerhouse in a tiny little package. Don't let the fact that it is all in one small almost non-existent footprint fool you, this is a power packed machine. The new iMac is quick, powerful and will do anything you ...
