THE sexiest laptop available!

by   motomille ,  Jan 18, 2004
Pros: Sexy, 17" screen, DVD/CD burner, Wireless
Cons: Big, big and big... may have a issue with 10.3.3
The Bottom Line: If you want large resolution in the sexiest package that will allow you to do anything from video to chat... this is THE machine.
Review: Many know Apple as a company that makes computers that "creative types" use. Very true. It has been that way due to specific programs originally being only available for the Mac. Time have changed. With OSX (Operating System version 10) things are ...

Updated: My 17-inch PowerBook Experience, and Using the 17-inch PowerBook G4 for Video Editing

by   dekudekuplex ,  Jul 22, 2003
Pros: runs MacOS X 10.2 Jaguar, fast, powerful, user-friendly, fun to use, aesthetically gifted
Cons: expensive (but worth the price)
The Bottom Line: This laptop is ideal for power users who do anything design-related, and for students or programmers who used to work in UNIX, but would prefer a more user-friendly interface.
Review: Prior to this, I had written an earlier review that discussed the pros and cons of using the 17-inch ...

Amazing desktop replacement

by   openroad ,  Dec 1, 2003
Pros: Fast, stylish and attractive, gorgeous screen, powerful enough to function as a desktop replacement.
Cons: Expensive, scratches easily, on the large side for true "laptop" use.
The Bottom Line: A trendy, attractive, functional, high-speed laptop with a full complement of software. For a light-yet-portable desktop replacement, or a high-powered portable video/audio system, look no further than Apple's 17"Powerbook!
Review: System Specs Processor: 1GHZ PowerPC Ram: 512MB Display: 17" (1440 x 900) Hard Drive: 60GB Optional Drive: CDR/DVDR Superdrive Network Adapters: 10/100 & Gigabyte Ethernet Ports, Airport Extreme WiFi ...

The Most Durable, Stylish, Reliable, Powerful Portable You Can Own

by   xsprngx ,  Oct 17, 2004
Pros: Durable, Reliable, Stable, Innovative, Great Software, Easy to Use, No Worries Ever, Great Warranty
Cons: more expensive, technically less software, fewer Mac compatible accessories than for PC
The Bottom Line: Get a Macintosh if you are considering buying a new computer. They look great, run great, and have almost NO PROBLEMS EVER. The extra money is WELL worth it.
Review: I just finished my senior year at high school, and like every other excited freshman entering college, I needed a reliable portable computer to bring with me. For the last 10 years or so, I have always used Windows computers, because they're the most ...

How to Make Geeks Gasp, the Story of my 17" Powerbook G4

by   jestmeister ,  May 28, 2003
Pros: Display size, thin, quiet, Mac OS X
Cons: It's still a PC world. Heat.
The Bottom Line: Probably the best portable on the market today. Features that rival that of many desktops in a notebook that pushes the boundries of size.
Review: There are two basic types of computer users out there.

There are ones who memorize technical jargon and numbers, know what they mean, and can recite them like a sports buff giving batting averages.

Then there are users like me, who...

Could it be any bigger?

by   methad ,  Mar 15, 2003
Pros: elegant design. Its an Apple! Everything!
Cons: DIfficulty setting up the airport extreme with current wireless network. Cost of windows comparable software
The Bottom Line: If you dont own an apple, this would be great to have as your first. But be ready for some getting used to, especially cost of windows comparable software.
Review: So I finally received my Apple powerbook. ALthough the waiting was difficult, it was well worth it. THe 17" screen is so beautiful and bright! I have never seen a screen as great.

Now lets see, this being my first apple it took a bit of...

by   delt145 ,  Apr 20, 2003
Pros: very fast, beautiful
Cons: none i can think of now
The Bottom Line: If you want the best laptop out there , this is it. Only way to beat it is for apple to make a G5 processor
Review:
This is my first mac ever and after using it for over a month, I can say without a shadow of a doubt I will not be going back to windows. When I received it, I couldn't to try it out. I opened the box and the first level has the instruction...

Best Laptop On The Entire Planet

by   wbuddy1065 ,  Jul 15, 2003
Pros: Best Powerbook yet from Apple
Cons: Feet too grippy. Do not slide this laptop
The Bottom Line: This is a top notch unit and very reliable. I recommend it especially to those who work with photo editing or video.
Review: The title says it all. Rock solid Mac OSX helps make it so. After nearly 4 months now this laptop still has my attention. I felt it would be wrong not to write about it. The Exterior finish is an incredible anodized aluminum. Smooth to the touch and p ...

A Magnificent Gadget

by   aibbaker ,  May 17, 2003
Pros: Giant Screen, Wireless Connection, lighted keyboard
Cons: Price, Software Price
The Bottom Line: A great machine, life without Windows is worth a try!
Review: I have always used windows, so this was my first non-windows computer. I am one of those people who loves to buy new gadgets. Last year I bought an iPod and was using it with Windows. I was so very impressed with its build quality and design that I...

PowerBook 17-Inch: First Impressions

by   powerpage ,  Apr 13, 2003
Pros: Massive 1440 X 900 pixel 17-inch LCD display, built-in Bluetooth, Ambient Light Sensor, SuperDrive DVD-R.
Cons: Difficult to find accessories, screen closes if keyboard angled more than 20 degrees down.
The Bottom Line: If you need a desktop replacement caliber machine or a large LCD monitor than you have to consider the PB17. It is big and can have two browser windows side-by-side.
Review: After spending two days with my new PowerBook 17-Inch I am finally starting to get used to it. A good friend of mine named Nuggets got bragging rights by getting his 17 first told me that "at first I thought it was too big." I have to concur. When you...
