Author's Review
I am a longtime PC user and until recently, when I lost all my data on my harddrive due to an unknown crash that would cost me, over 1K to fix, I preferred PCs. I mainly used my desktop for email, word processing, digital pictures, digital movies, some games, and as a home recording studio...onto the macbook.
Looking at the macbook...
First off, this computer is beautiful. So beautiful in fact that more than a couple of people have commented on how beautiful it is. The notebook itself, I think is the perfect size with an ample 13.3 inch screen to suit most everybody's need while maintaining a relatively small size so that you can put it in your backpack/computer bag, without having to buy some specially made one. All of the inputs are located on the left side of the computer, with the exception of the Superdrive which is the sole input on the right. One feature that I like, is that the keys on the keyboard are all slightly separated with a space in between them. Its like each keyboard is one stone on a cobblestone driveway. This allows me to type well, considering I have fat fingers, as well as less chance for improper input when typing.
Using the mac...
I have to admit that I was very wary on purchasing an Apple but since everyone who owns a mac and their mothers rave about how great they are, I took the dive. I'm thoroughly glad that I did. The main thing that worried me was that I wouldn't be able to find software I needed to do the things that I wanted. Lo and behold however, everything I needed, already came preloaded on the macbook. Each program is well thought out, intuitive and has a very easy learning curve. If you enjoy the software products that google puts out (picasa, gmail, etc) then I'd say that macs are for you. I usually get around 4 hours of battery life on one charge which, for me is more than ample. I pulled in my PS/2 optical mouse into one of the USB slots and was able to right click to my glee.
Cool Features...
Built in digital camera/video above the LCD monitor is a sweet feature, as is the magnetic power cord and close hatch. Remote control powers all your multimedia needs and more.
