Could this be the world's best laptop?

by   lawman67 , top reviewer in Computer Hardware at Epinions.com ,  Oct 10, 2008
Pros: Fast, stable, gorgeous. Destined to be the best ever matte-screen MacBook Pro.
Cons: Not as fast or gorgeous as the new model.
The Bottom Line: October 14 brought a radically improved MacBook Pro design, but this is the best you will ever get if you hate glossy screens
Review: *** Important Update Follows ***As I write this on the 10th of October, 2008, Apple is poised to release a new line of laptops in just four days. Speculation is wild about the design of the upcoming portables, and even about whether Apple will offer ...

This MacBookPro is just what you need

by   MIDIMonster323 ,  Mar 2, 2008
Pros: Well laid out, feature packed, and ready to take on Microsoft on the hardware/software front.
Cons: Limited software titles, but that's changing!
The Bottom Line: If you need just one computer that will do everything a notebook should, then the MBP is for you.
Review: Macs have taken a beating the past few years for being "those expensive computers" that no one uses. Well, that is certainly not the case anymore! I was a firm Windows user from 3.1 all the way to XP. With Vista out and unleashed on everyone, I simply ...

Superb after 10 years of Windoze

by   albopf ,  Jun 6, 2008
Pros: Thin. Lightweight. Comfortable keyboard. High-rated durability. Quiet! Snag-resistant plug. Camera. MacOSX. Quick boot/shutdown. Raw power!
Cons: Runs warm. No SD reader. Learning curve for Windows users.
The Bottom Line: Great machine. Don't be afraid to lose Windoze. Excellent heft, size. Intelligent software, firmware. Perfect for geeks (virtualization, cross-browser testing for web development) and non-geeks (extreme ease of use).
Review: I did plenty of research ahead of time. Apple and IBM are the top two rated for hardware durability. I also waited, ultimately, for about the time the MBP was "upgraded" (early in 2008). Go online often. Two good sources to watch are, ...

Sleek, Simple, Clean Laptop

by   keenesbeans ,  Aug 3, 2008
Pros: No Viruses, Runs Smoothly, Beautifully Designed
Cons: Occasionally Overheats, Easily Scratched Casing, Not compatible with a lot of programs/games
The Bottom Line: Great laptop ready to take on any challenge. Just be prepared to shed out the cash.
Review: When I was looking for a laptop to use in college, I ran across many great deals on HP's, Dells, and Sony's. I've always been a Microsoft user, but heard many great things about Apple. The one thing that got me the most was the fact that they couldn't be ...

Beautiful design

by   mongomondo ,  Aug 5, 2008
Pros: Sleek design, easy to use.
Cons: Price is high, looks flashy so thieves will target you.
The Bottom Line: This laptop is worth saving up for.
Review: Apple is at the top of the game when it comes to design. The blueprints for the current Macbook Pro were made 5 years ago when they made the Aluminum Powerbook G4 back when they weren't using Intel processors yet. The G4 was a great design but the ...

Stunningly Beautiful

by   bramblesxk ,  Mar 27, 2008
Pros: Sleek and beautiful with powerful performance and nice features
Cons: Premium price, with sub par quality control
The Bottom Line: Very nice system, but price is hard to justify
Review: INTRODUCTION As with most people who purchase their first Mac, I too was a long time PC user who recently developed a strong interest for Apple products. I've been following the Macbook Pro line for a while, and when they recently released the ...

Not Thrilled

by   wcamp ,  May 6, 2008
Pros: The OS is great.
Cons: Fuzzy screen on slightly lower resolution, sharp edges on case, screen doesn't tip back enough
The Bottom Line: I really don't think it's worth the premium price unless you're totally hooked on the OS.
Review: I've been a longtime Windows user. I love my iPods and have heard so many good things about Macs that when my laptop needed to be replaced, I decided to switch. Unfortunately, I'm not happy with my Mac. The OS is generally nice. The overall design of ...
