I have had a MacBook in the past until my partner took it!
I was in a position recently where I had the funds available to purchase a new notebook and was tossing up between a Mac and a PC with Vista. It is such a hard decision to make because they both have their charms and both have downsides. So being the ever impulsive person I decided to buy an Asus notebook - which is great but within 2 hours I had to re-install Vista.
So after another couple of weeks I decided to make the dive and buy a Macbook for work so that I could keep the Asus as a media centre machine. I bought the black MacBook and iWork 08.
Mac seems to have this ability to design and build in quality to their products, as well as this easy to use flair. It actually makes you want to use the machine, to touch it and to spend time with it. I have enjoyed getting back on the Mac train.
Apple has been able to make their notebooks have an incredibly expansive battery life that enables you to browse with wireless on for approx 5 hours. It is one of those things that makes Apple so desirable on the notebook front that they are able to do this with the same materials and components that are used in PC based notebooks.
OS X Leopard is a huge development over Vista and just seems so much more polished and refined, don't get me wrong Vista has got some great features and ideas but Apple just seem to work on their 'fit and finish' that creates a product that will surpass your expectations.
I believe that Apple will eventually equal Windows but it will take time for people to understand and see what they can be offered and understand that taking up an Apple doesn't mean that they will have to go back to school and start from scratch with a whole new system.
'Switchers' will really appreciate the security that Apple provides, there is no real need to purchase and install additional security software as Mac is based on Unix making it far more resilient to virus and hacker attacks.
