Animal Crossing GC - Nintendo's answer to "The Sims"

by   Rock_On , top reviewer in Games at Epinions.com ,  Sep 11, 2002
Pros: NES roms!! basically fully customizable, total control of your town
Cons: the real time clocking and certain events on certain days for some people
The Bottom Line: I'm donating all proceeds from this review to firestations across the nation for their dedication to not only their lives, but ours.
Review: Intro:
This game has had 2 or 3 different titles since it's been released in Japan, including Animal Forest, Animal Forest Plus, and finally the final name chosen for the US release, Animal Crossing. This title...

A good example of why Nintendo is so successful

by   HawgWyld ,  Oct 6, 2004
Pros: Addictive; non-violent; innovative; nifty little simulation game
Cons: Perhaps too addictive; once the fun is over, it's over for good; average graphics
The Bottom Line: Leave it to Nintendo to come up with something this addictive. This is a great little "life" simulator, but the fun wears thin after a time.
Review: I know it's been said time and time again -- if you own a GameCube, you owe it to yourself to pick up a copy of Animal Crossing. I'll go ahead and add my voice to the chorus. My son and I both own GameCubes, and I'm surprised the two of us haven't ...

Animal Crossing: A game from Satan himself

by   B_Campbell , top reviewer in Games at Epinions.com ,  May 27, 2003
Pros: Deep, deep, deep, tons to do, customization, GBA connection, included memorycard
Cons: NOT for everyone, poor graphics, virtual keyboard
The Bottom Line: You'll either hate it or love it. If you like collecting things and customization, you'll probably like it. Otherwise, well, give it a shot.

Utterly charming, fun and engaging

by   mainemarc ,  Jan 16, 2007
Pros: Slyly educational, quirky, engaging, has very wholesome themes without being maudlin or preachy.
Cons: Implementation of in-game virtual keyboard scarcely adequate for amount of writing required.
The Bottom Line: A definite buy; justifies the cost of the entire game system.
Review: This has to be one of the most unique, original and thoroughly charming video games I’ve ever seen. I bought this along with a refurbished Gamecube for my 7 year old daughter and she’s been rapt ever since. Frankly, this single title alone justifies ...

Living with animals was never this fun

by   reviewerrob ,  Dec 20, 2007
Pros: Lots of things to collect, good customization features, NES games, good replay value
Cons: Repetitive at times
The Bottom Line: A great game that the whole family can enjoy. A lot to do that will keep you busy for a while.
Review: In this GameCube exclusive, you play as the only human in a town filled with animals. Nintendo has been known for weird games, and this is no exception. Plot You move into a new town, that is inhabited by animals. You must live with them, ...

It’s like The Godfather with Furies!

by   reptilesblade ,  Aug 11, 2005
Pros: Open ended game play with more variety than I have ever seen. The entire game.
Cons: Limited AI. Kind of a small play area.
The Bottom Line: BUY IT NOW! This game will own you for at least 2-3 months.
Review: I am going to warn you all now, there are going to be lots of bad and possibly off-color jokes in this review. With a game like this I just cannot help it. For the sake of simplicity I am going to stick with just a horny little male character (because ...

I'm a recovering Animal Crossing addict!

by   blenders ,  Mar 16, 2007
Pros: Addictive, lots of secrets and tricks, unique
Cons: Addictive, repeat many of the same favors, time-consuming
The Bottom Line: This game is highly recommended as it provided great fun for several months. Warning: it's very addictive!
Review: My husband and I were looking for a game to pass the time. We did some research on the internet and found an entire "underground network" of people completely infatuated with this game. There were all sorts of hints, codes, and feng shui advice. It ...

Animal Crossing- One of the best games ever

by   jesse_bravo ,  Dec 21, 2005
Pros: very addictive + Pretty much everything
Cons: very addictive - takes up an entire 59 block memory card
The Bottom Line: Animal Crossing is one of my favorite games, and I recommend it to anyone, even if they do not play games.
Review: Animal Crossing is a wonderful game for all ages. Animal Crossing is about you. Your character is designed by questions you are asked while traveling to the town you are moving to. You choose your name, the name of your town and your gender. The ...

I'll Always Play This Game!!

by   nintendud ,  Jan 30, 2004
Pros: Create own t-shirts, Memory Card 59 included, fishing, bug catching, MORE!!
Cons: Graphics aren't up to par (it's an upgrade from an N64 title from Japan)
The Bottom Line: This game is excellent, addicting, and offers months and months and maybe years of game play, plus it's only $30!
Review: About: This game is about starting your own town filled with animals. In the beginning you are on a train, looking in a first person view, at the empty seat across from you. A couple of people are in the seats around you, some of them you will meet ...

Pros: Never-ending gameplay, intriguing concept.
Cons: Lulls, at times.
The Bottom Line: A living classic; you won't want to put it away!
