Terry Brooks has created yet another wonderful book. The end of the trilogy of
Running with the Demon and
Knight of the Word is HERE! (That in and of itself is a complete tragedy, as I would have been looking for yet another book in this series to carry on the fight!)

Angel Fire East is a book that have been eagerly wanting to be released for a long time. I wasn't in that big of a hurry. I did wait for the paperback to be released about 2 weeks ago instead of purchasing the hard-cover issue! But, I waited with bated breath!
I have to say that
Brook's continuation wasn't disappointing. This book is set 10 years after the
Knight of the Word. Nest Freemark, the primary character is now 29 years old and has lead a very interesting, and normal life...until now! She is back in her hometown of Hopewell, and she spends time at her local church watching children while their parents are in the service. And, like most of us, Nest wonders what's in store for her. She has all but given up the life that she's known as an athlete. She has graduated college, and was talented enough to win a few Olympic medals for running in the last 2 Olympics. She has also been married and now is divorced. In other words, her life right now is comfortable and somewhat dull. Guess what? It's time to shake things up a bit!
That's just what's going to happen. Nest is getting ready for church early one morning, and gets a knock on the door. Who could it be so early?
She answers the door and is face to face with Findo Gask, a person of "faith" that is looking for John Ross. Needless to say, Nest is very taken aback by Findo. She's not heard a thing from John Ross since her last encounter with him 10 years ago. She gets a bad vibe from Findo, explains John isn't there, and that she's not heard anything from him in 10 years, and has no idea where he is. She then asks Findo to leave, feeling that Findo is evil, and she wants nothing further to do with him.
Nest has magic, and she can feel when things aren't right. She's not used her magic for many years, so she isn't sure if it's her imagination, or if something is truly wrong. Things have been very quiet since John Ross left Hopewell 15 years ago, and since her last meeting with him 10 years ago. Now, is the apple cart going to be upturned again?!?
The Knight of the Word, John Ross, does show up to Nest's home within a few days of Findo's visit. Nest now believes Findo is a demon of the Void that has come to town to find and kill John Ross.
When John makes his appearance, Nest has a big decision to make...invite John Ross in, knowing that there will be heck to pay, or send him away and hope that she doesn't become involved in the nasty fight that is sure to ensue between the Knight of the Word and the demon from the Void.
The decision's been made! Does Nest and John have another huge battle fighting off the evil of the Void. You can rest assured that they do! Not only are they fighting the Void to protect humanity, but they are now also in charge of protecting a very, very strong magic that is in their presence, a gypsy morph. They must protect the morph to keep the magic in the Word's service, and keep it from being taken over by the Void! What a challenge!
The characters that we have grown to love in the previous two novels are back again, Two Bears, they Sylvan Pick, Wraith (Nest's protector) and some of Nest's childhood friends. There are many surprises waiting to attack your senses in this novel!
Terry Brooks' build up to the fight between the Void and the Word is just amazing. I honestly couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. The ending is sad, exciting, and a bit disconcerting. Has the Void been outsmarted? Has the Void been eradicated, or will they be back to fight the Word again?
Check the book out for the answers. If you are like most that I have spoken to, you will not be able to put the book down, as you will want to keep turning the pages until you reach the end! (And, you will be like me, wishing that this really isn't the final book of this series!)
~Thank you for spending time with me today!~
