Pros: Accurate portrayal of betrayal, violence and heartbreak
Cons: A little long but it is three stories
The Bottom Line: Three tales for the price of one, this is a film filled with violence and action but it is very well told.
Review: Every once in a while a movie comes to isolated West Texas that has won an award at the Cannes Film Festival and has been nominated in the Best Foreign Film category. I saw such a movie today. It's a movie made in Mexico entitled "Amoresperros" which...

Pros: Inarritu's Direction, Arriaga's Script, Cinematography, Location, Score, Editing, & Cast.
Cons: Nada.
The Bottom Line: Amores Perros is a Brilliant, Multi-Layered Masterpiece from the duo of Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu & Guillermo Arriaga.
Review: With the recent attention towards films of Latin America, a new wave has been emerging in different countries south of U.S. border. From Brazil, there's Fernando Meirelles and Walter Salles and in Argentina, the late Fabian Bielinsky. In Mexico, two ...

Pros: Striking original screenplay and intelligent direction
Cons: Graphic display of dog fighting, slow middle segment
The Bottom Line: Highly Recommended: Amores Perros is a great foreign flick that launched some strong careers. Direction, screenplay and acting are all exceptional.
Review: Amores Perros was the 2000 debut for Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu. It was also the debut for writer Guillermo Arriaga and the two teamed up to develop their own signature style which would continue through 21 Grams ...

Pros: Powerful, memorable storytelling. Right now, my favorite movie of 2001.
Cons: none.
The Bottom Line: If it wasn't for Crouching Tiger, Amore Perros deserved to win Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars. Spectacular!!
Review: Rated R
(violence/gore, language, and sexuality) Directed by: Alejandro Gonázalez Iñárritu my rating: A Did you ever see a movie that parallels your reality? Did you ever see a movie that becomes reality? No,... |

Pros: Brains, Nerve, Energy
Cons: none
The Bottom Line: A top quality film, both fast and deep, smart and action-packed.
Review: From the first gun, almost literally, Amores Perros drops us into a car chase that hatches, haunts and invents the rest of the film.
We don't know the people rushing through the streets of Mexico City, or why one set wants to kill the other... |

Pros: Great story telling. Edgy cinematography.
Cons: English subtitles do not convey the intensity and vulgarity of the dialog.
The Bottom Line: Great story telling combines with interesting characters, edgy cinematography, and universal truths about the nature of love.
Review: Note: the following review originally contained "unacceptable words." It now contains unacceptable words with asterisks in the middle and in Spanish. If such words would offend you, now's the time to go somewhere else.

Pros: stylish, emotive, deep, dark, first-rate Mexican filmmaking.
Cons: some dog lovers may disapprove
The Bottom Line: one of 2001's finest films, Alejandro González Iñárritu is a true talent.
Review: Amores Perross frenzied beginnings are tantamount to the films narrative concerns as a whole, seemingly unconcerned with building upon his audiences expectations Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu propels us straight into the action as two...

Pros: Excellent foreign film with a neo-noir taste.
Cons: None that were too obvious.
The Bottom Line: Watch this movie and get a sense and style unique undo Alejandro González Iñárritu - it's a worthwhile experience.
Review: Amorres Perros combines three loosely tied story lines that eventually all come together. First we have a restless youth struggling to make it with his poor family, secondly we have a rich executive leading a double life with a model, and finally we...
