I saw it on a dare, but I bought the video, didn't I?

I have to admit, even though I am riding the tail-end of my own hormonally charged teen years, I was somewhat apprehensive about seeing American Pie. I had friends whose opinions on this one ranged from "It's the most disgusting thing I've ever seen" to "It's the best movie I've ever seen!" So what's a guy to do? That's right, take a girl to see it on your first date. Alright, I admit that maybe *that* part wasn't the smartest idea.
The disclaimer I must first make is that, indeed, not everyone will enjoy this movie. For some, it may simply cross the line one too many times. Or ten too many times. But when you take it for what it actually is, an accurate depiction of what teen guys really *are* after, it seems a little less raunchy. Maybe it even makes you the littlest bit embarassed about being in a similar situation.
For those who have not yet seen it, American Pie centers on the pact between four high school seniors to lose their virginity before Prom. Hijinks ensue-- it's standard Hollywood fare. But what *is* unusual about this particular teen-angst comedy is straight-talk approach that is takes to male development. Yes, we *can* be sensitive. Yes, we *can* be faithful. Yes, underneath all of that, we *do* just want sex. But we grow up. And somewhere deep down inside, we care about what the fairer sex thinks.
Somewhere.
And yes, she liked the movie too.
