Good enough for non- American Idol fans!

After the last session of American Idol 3 (and a great ending it was!), I just had to get this cd to comfort myself that my favourite show has ended, at least for this year! However i was initially rather skeptical, this cd has songs by all the finalists, and personally i dont think all of them are great, only a handfull are "quality" singers. But well, after reading some good reviews on amazon, i popped down to the nearest cd shop and got it...and here's the review!

Good songs:

1) Chain of fools (Fantasia Barrino): My fav in this cd! Shows why she won the competition... catchy funky music with smooth and sassy vocal! I can listen to this all day :)

2)Me and Mrs Jones (George Huff): He sounds better here than on the show, creamy smooth vocals on this jazzy number, def one of the better songs in the cd

3)If you dont know me by now (La Toya London): Okay, Fantasia and her are my favs, but really her voice is excellent. This has never been a song i particularly liked, but she does it well with a nice twist at the end

Other good ones: Neither one of us (Jennifer Hudson), Sitting on the Dock of the Bay (Matt Rogers), You make me feel brand new (Amy Adams), Midnight Train to Georgia (Jasmine Trias), Until you come back to me (Camile Velasco), Ain't no mountain high enough (Emsemble)

Not so good ones: I heard it through the Grapevine (Diana Degarmo) - she has a great voice, but this song is just not catchy, My Girl (Jon Peter Lewis), Betcha by Golly, Wow (Leah Labelle) & You are everything (John Stevens) - these songs are boring, at least to me!

Okay that sums it up! There are a few boring numbers, but 9 good songs out of 13 is still plenty and way better that some of the other cds i own :) The good thing is you wont get bored with just one singer, since there's a large variaty of them and honestly, most of them do have good voices (although i wish there are more songs by Fantasia and La Toya). IT's worth getting, esp if you are a fan of AI and even if you're not, I think its good value for money!
