Go ask Alice...I think she'll know

Date of Review:  Dec 27, 2001
The Bottom Line: Alice is a standard FPS game wrapped in an amazing gameworld. If you like FPS games and have a pretty heavy-duty system to run it on, you'll probably like it.
Review:
American McGee's Alice is a pretty good first-person shooter game wrapped in a demented, lovingly detailed gameworld.

The background:

Since Alice's last trip behind the looking-glass, things have taken a definite downturn. A...

"ALICE"

Date of Review:  May 3, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you happy and you know it clap your hands :)
Review: Did you enjoy the story of Alice In Wonderland? With that stupid little girl who dreamt up unfathomable things by using such items such as mushrooms, gumdrops, and whatever else she ate, or swallowed for that matter. As you see I am not among one of...

Alice: One of the Best Games of 2000

Date of Review:  Dec 7, 2000
Review: American McGee's Alice has two very significant advantages behind it: The awesome Quake III engine and a familiar, yet disturbingly changed backstory. Alice (of Wonderland fame) has been called back to Wonderland to put an end to the Queen of...

Something special

Date of Review:  Apr 5, 2007
The Bottom Line: This is a game that stands out, one that you should try if you're into something dark and different
Review: Not very many games try to be scary or freaky, and succeed. Fewer still do it without a lot of gore and 'boo' tactics. This one does all that and more. There's so much in American McGee's Alice that is creepy, demented, or just plain out there. That...

The Original Drug Trip Fairytale Taken One Disturbing Step Further

Date of Review:  Oct 3, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you're a platforming fan, go for it. You won't be disappointed. This is a helluva Tomb Raider clone.
Review: This is one of the best Tomb Raider clones ever. Maybe even THE best. There are plenty of reasons for this. I don't know who American McGee is, but he makes a DAMN good game. Before diversing into this, I feel I should tell you the story of Alice,...

The fairytale turns to horror

Date of Review:  Feb 19, 2001
The Bottom Line: Get it now, but only if you have a really powerful machine.
Review: You probably all know the children?s bed-time story Alice in Wonderland. In her sleep, Alice follows a white rabbit into a strange land where all odd things come together. She is attacked by card guards, is invited to the mad-hatters...

"I want to become very small."

Date of Review:  Feb 4, 2001
The Bottom Line: I definitely would recommend this to people that like adventure types of games. Exploration is minimal, but the sound and graphics make up for it.
Review: This is the phrase which will send you off on your adventure in Wonderland. Your goal is to get the items to create the potion that will make you small enough to fit in the rabbit hole.

Background: Alice is the only survivor in the fire...

Wonderland goes Through The Looking Glass

Date of Review:  Aug 14, 2009
The Bottom Line: Stunning music, a well-written Casebook, and a very original setting for Lewis Carroll's classic literature makes American McGee's Alice a game well worth owning.
Review: Let's start at the beginning - that I bought this game over Ebay because the original is no longer in the shops. The budget can be found in various places with some effort but it doesn't come with the ever-so-cool Casebook on Alice, which we'll get...

HUGE Let Down

Date of Review:  Dec 16, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you have a friend with it... watch the Cheshire Cat scene, then turn it off.
Review: Maybe it's just the type of person I am, but I'm not a huge fan of the "random character wandering through dark dungeon armed with weapon, killing things" kind of game. I like my games to have a story, exciting characters, puzzles, and interesting...

Date of Review:  Dec 29, 2000
Review: I was so enthralled by EA's Chesire Cat 8-ball and the exceptionally good reviews this game was receiving, that it was purchased within an hour of when I first heard its name. But now, with the game in hand, I can't help but wear a look of...
