Author's Review

We are using it in a small (125 sq ft) lab in Arizona. The lab has thermal equipment and gets hot in the summer. There is just not enough standard a/c to this room. after considering various options, we decided on this unit. we put the Amana at counter height, vented it thru the ceiling tile and now we FREEZE (if we want to). the unit works perfect for this small area, noise is acceptable (quieter than some of our other equipment) and is easy to regulate the temp to desired levels. I have two roof mounted a/c units but the amana fills a void for us perfectly. Cost us $299 at Frys Electronics (they had 21 portable models to choose from), others stores I visited had one or two at most at $500 to $600.
time will tell but it looks well made, well designed and simple to operate. The controls are intuitive.
the vent tube didnt reach our eleven foot ceilings and thus we had to splice a section of aluminum duct to the existing hose and secure with duct tape.
We wanted a unit at the lower end of the BTU scale because the room is small. I will assume the operating costs to be minimal as a result.
