Amana Easy Reach Built in Stainless Steel Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
The whole house remodel continues and this is the fridge I got…………….:
A year ago in the seemingly never ending remodel process which has taken up two years of my life so far we brought home this lovely energy efficient fridge with a bottom freezer drawer and a sleek built-in look. I loved the idea of a drawer on the bottom and also the smooth plain stainless finish on the front while still having a water dispenser.
This particular model is a lower profile model so it is not as deep as normal refrigerators. As a result you can open it and see everything in it without having to dig around. With overall capacity for both fridge and freezer of over 20 cubic feet, it still has all the space of a traditional deeper fridge, but is laid out in an extremely smart manner to allow for even your biggest Thanksgiving turkey.
Energy Efficiency
Gone are the days of the loud energy hogging fridges of the past! I can feel good because this model does carry the energy efficient star rating. As a result, I was able to get a nice rebate from the utility company when I bought this in combination with another new energy efficient appliance.
This refrigerator is
very quiet except for the occasional tapping I hear when the ice maker is emptying itself. It is a made to be built into cabinetry, so that could also aid in noise control.
Open the door…………………………………………………………….
Like some of my other appliances, I enjoy the simplicity of this fridge. Originally, I had planned on buying a fridge with double doors up top and the drawer on the bottom. The sales person convinced me that having to open two doors would become tedious at some point. I eventually agreed that one door would make more sense and be easier to keep clean.
The door can be installed to open from either direction for extra added convenience and the handle design aids in keeping the stainless form becoming covered in little rug rat fingerprints.
Once a week I just spray some Windex on it and it comes clean easily.
Inside the fridge section, the gorgeous glass shelving is adjustable for larger items and there are many choices for configuration. The filtered water dispenser is in the inside left corner of the fridge and works great, but if you have to have an ice dispenser, too, then this is not the fridge for you. I enjoy having it on the inside and it seems to keep everything cleaner as a result.
In addition to two spacious climate controlled vegetable/fruit drawers, there is a drawer underneath them that expands the entire width of the fridge. I use this for meats and cheeses. It, too, is climate controlled. In the door, there is ample shelving which is deep enough for a gallon of milk! There is also a butter compartment and a see through compartment for chilling drinks. Cokes and beer stay extremely chilled in this unique feature. The overall capacity of the refrigerator section is a generous 14.62 cubic feet, but it seems even bigger because of the layout!

The freezer drawer is extremely easy gliding and opens the bottom section of the freezer. It also has the fabulous handle to reduce those marks! In addition to the bottom part of the drawer that pulls out, there is another drawer rack above it which glides out to reveal even more room in the freezer plus and ice maker with a holding tray large enough for our biggest parties.
We have always had a chest freezer in addition to the fridge, but we don’t seem to use it as much now and it has become a holding area for anything in the garage! The freezer on this unit has a capacity of 5.66 cubic feet and is extremely efficient with space. Everything is very easy to find as a result of the two sections.
Side Note:
This one is available in stainless only. It is cheaper than a lot of lesser featured stainless refrigerators because of the built in function. This allows for the stainless to be only on one panel and the front edges. The rest of the fridge is black and hidden within my cabinetry. I had wanted to save my money for the cook top/down-draft and oven I chose.
Measurements
Measure your space if you are considering this fridge! It is an odd shape and might be best for remodels rather than replacement. The overall height is 69.88 inches and width overall is 35.63 inches. This is pretty amazing when you consider that the overall depth of this refrigerator is only 28 inches!!!!
Lastly -
This is a very good looking fridge with lovely sleek lines and a space-saving design which does not take away form its capacity. It has a ton of amenities not found in more expensive fridges and a value price.
I have gotten a ton of compliments and recommend it to anyone looking for a great fridge!
