Alvin and the Chipmunks - a great family movie!
Date of Review: Mar 17, 2009
The Bottom Line: Bottom Line - A great film for the entire family. Funny and Entertaining!
My family and I went to see this movie at the local hometown theater and I must say I was impressed. I had not viewed the trailer beforehand and was expecting another corny kids movie. The human/animation in this movie was supurb and it looked very natural. I have since watched this movie over and over with my little sister and I still can't see any flaws - it is so realistic.
The plot was basic. The villian was played by David Cross, who promised to give the chipmunks anything they want in order to get rich off of them. He played one of those good guy/bad guys that you like, but hate at the same time. The silly Dave Seville begins with serious issues about getting close to the chipmunks and then loses them. He then comes to grip with his committment issues and its a rush to get them back - finally giving in to his love for them.
The chipmunks are so cute and adorable. Their songs/vocals are catchy and fun. This movie also has some very humorous parts that keep the audience laughing all the way through.
Overall, the movies costumes, casting and acting were A+. The target audience was pre-teen, but even the younger kids could grasp the concept of this movie and found it funny and entertaining. My family liked this movie so much, we went out and got the soundrack. It is also the ringer, on my mom's cell phone. It is well worth watching and entertaining for the entire family. I give this movie five out of five stars.
