The Bottom Line: Skip 'em... try Creative speakers for a $$ deal, Klipsch for quality.
Review: What I expected
I didn't expect mind numbing (blowing?) sound from these speakers, but I did expect something better than my Creative Inspire 4400's (a 4.1 set). I've seen quite a few reviews of these speakers in Hardware sites around the net...

Good Sound @ a Good Price

Get what you pay for

The Bottom Line: Sound is certainly adequate for an inexpensive 5.1 system. This system met my expectations so I have given this a qualified above average rating.
Review: I bought the 251 system last week to match up with my SB Audigy Gamer sound card. I was using a pair of Koss speakers and an IBM sub - both of which were about 6 years old.

The Bottom Line: The Altec Lansing 251s are not high quality speakers for audiophiles. They are cheap, but good quality starter speakers for the DVD or music enthusiast.
Review: I remember seeing the Altec Lansing 251 5.1 system at a local electronics store. I asked to test out the speakers, and I was impressed. $150 CAD for a half-decent 5.1 system. I buckled, and bought them.
