Disappointing performance for my time, effort and money.
Pros:
- Installation instructions. - Better than not having nav. - DVD updates.
Cons:
- Please read the review above, where I outline all my dissatisfaction.
The Bottom Line:
With the cost and poorly executed nav, this is certainly one to avoid.

Author's Review
Firstly, I have an IVA-W205, which I'm relatively pleased with. I feel the interface is a little cluttered on the head unit normally, but what can you do?
With the NVE-N872A, I find the menus to be very confusing, and non-intuitive. The voice commands are inadequate; The only one it regularly recognizes that well is 'go home.' The audio interrupt feature seemed like a good idea, but it cuts off the beginning, so when I'm getting directions, I hear '...meters, turn left... <quietly insert some semblance of street name here>.' The voice is very poor, and the street name usage is inefficient.
With the instructions turned to less than maximum, you get prompts similar to 'Turn left,' rather than 'In one kilometer, turn left.' The POI database is less than stellar. The interface is unusable if the audio interrupt is on, or if you just had changed the volume (eg, it went back to non-DVD menu, which I think is mostly to blame on the IVA-W205, but I think that's how it's supposed to operate.)
The voices are non-configurable, the display is all but non-configurable... Honestly, the Nuvi and my Verizon phone both have much better configuration, setup, notification, voices, and interface.
The bottom line is that I wouldn't spend your 1400 dollars here. I wouldn't even spend a grand on it. $300? Maybe. But I'd probably just buy a Nuvi.
I can't list them all below, so here are the cons:
- Terrible user interface.
- Poor setup.
- Not configurable enough, yet there are a lot of options that are unnecessary, too.
- Poor audio prompts.
- Inaccurate database of POI, and terribly difficult to navigate.
- Voice commands don't work well.
- Wiring is a little bit absurd, and unnecessarily complex for something that should literally have a junction connector on the back of the unit that supplies power, video, and audio on a pass-through, rather than having to re-splice into the harness.
- Waaaaay too expensive for the quality of the product
